Sam’s Club has awarded 20 teachers from Jane A. Hambric School $50 gift cards as part of the national retail warehouse club’s annual “The Teacher Rewards Program.”
Hambric was the only school in the El Paso area to receive the funds. They were chosen for their outstanding work as educators. The rewards program provides incentives for classroom teachers, librarians, SCEIs and counselors.
“We are excited and proud to be receive this prestigious award given annually to only ONE SCHOOL in the El Paso region!” said Ray Granado, assistant principal at Hambric. “We want to give a big thank you to Sam’s Club and Pat Ramirez for nominating our school.”
The gift cards will be used to buy any school items needed for the classroom. In addition, the school also will receive school supplies from the partnership of Walmart and SAM’s Club.
Through the Teacher Rewards Program, which has been around since 2009, more than 5,000 Walmart stores, distribution centers and Sam’s Club locations select one local public school, grades K-8 and provide reward cards for its teachers. Teachers can use the funds to purchase essential items for their classrooms such as paper, folders, binders, pencils, crayons and markers.
“We are proud to honor our community’s teachers, who give time and often their own money to ensure our students have everything they need to be successful throughout the school year,” said Anna Smith, Sam’s Club Membership Assistant Manager. “At Sam’s Club, we are dedicated to supporting our nation’s teachers by providing them with the support and resources needed to continue educating the future leaders of our community.”
