The Downtown Management District (DMD) Board of Directors approved a total of $34,500 in grant funds at the most recent DMD Board of Directors meeting.
The property at 601 Texas Ave., as part of the Downtown Commercial Façade Improvement Grant program and the Roderick Artspace El Paso Lofts Housing at 601 N. Oregon St. as part of the Downtown Mural Grant Program.
Stanton Street Development LLC was approved for the maximum $25,000 in Façade grant funds on a 1:1 match – the estimated total project cost is $208,241.00.
Planned façade improvements on the property at 601 Texas Ave., include but are not limited to repair of exterior stucco, refurbishment of column tiles, replacement of main entrance doors, and exterior elastomeric painting.
The Downtown Commercial Façade Improvement Grant program provides matching funds to existing businesses and/or property owners to make improvements to the exterior of buildings in the boundaries of the El Paso DMD, and/or the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone No. 5 (TIRZ).
The program is managed by the DMD with funding from the DMD and TIRZ.
Applications are considered on a first-come, first-serve basis while funding is available. Applicants can apply for up to $25,000 in reimbursement funding.
Artspace El Paso Lofts Housing LP, La Frontera Conservation Fund, was approved for $9,500 of mural grant funds on a 1:1 match with an estimated total project cost of $20,000.
The maximum grant available is $10,000 and each grant dollar must be matched by a private investment dollar (1:1 ratio).
The mural measuring 20’x15.5’ by Artist Jesus “Cimi” Alvarado celebrates El Paso artists of numerous mediums and will adorn the Missouri Ave. side of the Roderick Artspace Lofts complex above the resident parking lot located at 601 N. Oregon.
The Downtown Mural Grant Program provides funding to existing business and/or property owners to establish or restore murals within the DMD boundaries. All proposed mural projects are reviewed by a panel of local art professionals and the DMD Grant Review Committee.
Standard paint and/or artistic design element improvements will not be considered under this program, but may be eligible improvements under the Downtown Commercial Façade Improvement Grant Program.
