The Environmental Services Department (ESD) officially introduces the community to the newest addition of the family – “Bleu”, the curbside recycling robot.
The ESD is introducing him as a family-friendly way to reach out and educate the community about recycling. Bleu is ready to champion recycling and solid waste collection by offering free recycling presentations at outreach events such as schools, community fairs, and learning centers as well as civic, social and business organizations.
Residents can stop by and meet Bleu from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the ESD’s Earth Day Celebration Event on Saturday, April 7, at 7969 San Paulo.
Standing a little more than four feet tall, Bleu is an interactive robot. He talks, twists and turns, moves his arms and can clench his hands to give fist bumps. He also moves his eyes and eyebrows, and his lid opens.
The curbside recycling robot is determined to educate everyone about recycling and its importance, as well as reducing waste.
Bleu is available for outreach events by calling 3-1-1 or sending an email to the Environmental Services Department Training and Public Programs Division at firstname.lastname@example.org.
