City announces $3.7m funding available for Districts 6 & 7

City of El Paso offers CDBG funding to improve neighborhoods in Districts 6 and 7. Approximately $3.7 million available in Community Development Block Grant Funds

The City of El Paso’s Department of Community and Human Development is pleased to announce available funding to improve low-and moderate- income neighborhoods in Districts 6 and 7.

Approximately $3.7 million in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds can be used for the following types of projects:

Street and Drainage                      Sidewalks

Libraries                                           Parks

Medical Clinics                                Accessibility

Citizen Request forms are available for residents who wish to propose projects for consideration in Districts 6 or 7. To pick up a form, residents can visit any City facility located in Districts 6 or 7 (libraries, police stations, recreation and senior centers) and at the Department of Community and Human Development – CITY 3 – 801 Texas 3rd Floor. The Citizen Request form can also be download from the City‘s website at:

 Proposed projects must be located in either District 6 or 7, be in a CDBG eligible area and benefit low- and moderate-income neighborhoods to be considered for funding.

Deadline to submit the Citizen Request Form is: 6:00 pm, Thursday, October 22, 2015

CDBG’s main purpose is to provide decent, safe and sanitary housing, a suitable living environment, and economic opportunities to low- and moderate-income people. CDBG public improvement projects improve safety and living conditions for low-income neighborhood residents.
