Candlelighters ‘Walk of Hope’ set for September 28

El Paso Children’s Hospital is once again hosting the Candlelighters 26th annual Walk of Hope benefitting local children with cancer.

The event is set for Saturday, September 28th, and features a kid’s Fun Fair starting at 5:00 p.m. and a luminaria lighted walk around Ascarate Lake beginning at 8:00 p.m.

The Fun Fair will feature family friendly activities including carnival games and more. Enjoy your favorite El Paso mascots in a race of their own before the walk, dance group performances, mariachis, craft vendors, and food trucks.

Register as an individual or create a team by visiting CandlelightersELP.org. Luminarias and floating water lanterns are available for purchase at the walk. Decorate them with your message of hope for those battling cancer or in memory of a loved one.

Join the community in this tribute and help light the way for those currently fighting cancer, while honoring the angels who have lost their battle.

This event is free to attend and all funds raised through donations and merchandise sales fund our new initiative to extend our emergency financial assistance to young adults through age 25.

For those wishing to learn more about Candlelighters and this event, they can contact Mary Vasquez at (915) 544-2222 or visit their website.

WHAT: Walk of Hope

Environmental Services Partners with Candlelighters

The Environmental Services Department (ESD) has collaborated with Candlelighters of El Paso to create a new service that gives residents the opportunity to donate/recycle clothing and shoes at any of the City’s Citizen Collection Stations (CCS).

All five CCSs have yellow clothing donation bins from Candlelighters of El Paso. The service allows ESD to team-up with a well-known organization to make a difference and give back to the community by providing clothing items a second chance at life and keeping them out of the landfill.

The Citizen Collection Stations are located in the following areas:

  • Far East – 3510 Confederate
  • Eastside – 1034 Pendale
  • Northeast – 4507 Hondo Pass
  • Central – 2492 Harrison
  • Westside – 121 Atlantic

For information on CCSs and ESD services, call 3-1-1 or visit their website.
