Audio: Testify Sidebar – Child Crisis Center of El Paso

In light of their latest episode, Deserted, Charlie and Andra sought out advice from the Child Crisis Center of El Paso.

Executive Director Lorraine Gomez shared her insightful thoughts into the needs of the El Paso community when it comes to caring for children who are at risk for neglect or abuse.

The center has been in operation since 1980 and offers many services that El Pasoans may not be aware of. One of their most important services is drop in, no questions asked, childcare for parents who are in need of a break from their children.

If you would like to donate or help the Child Crisis Center, or if you are in need or their assistance, please visit their website or call them at (915) 562-7955.

You can also help the Child Crisis Center of El Paso by supporting their Discovery Thrift Shop located at 9122 Dyer Street in the Bradley Shopping Centre.

Testify Closing Arguments: Deserted with Genevive Curtis

This week, Andra and Charlie invited KFOX 14 Investigative Journalist Genevive Curtis about the 2013 death of Jackson Farrey.

County Attorney Hosting 7th Annual Child Welfare Law Seminar

Last year just in El Paso County, Child Protective Services investigated over 4,800 reports of child abuse or neglect. Of those cases, 6 resulted in the death of a child due to abuse or extreme neglect.

On Wednesday April 5, 2017, the El Paso County Attorney’s Office will be hosting the 7th Annual Child Welfare Law (CLE.) The yearly event provides attorneys, case workers, counselors and foster parents training to better help troubled youth and child victims of abuse and neglect.

The legal seminar will take place on Wednesday April 5, 2017, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Centennial Banquet and Conference Center.

This year’s key-note speaker is Michael C. Weber, an investigator with the Tarrant County D.A.’s Office who specializes in medical child abuse investigations. In October 2009, Weber arrested Hope Ybarra, a woman who for several years faked having cancer and got her children severely sick to gain favor and attention from the community.

The chilling details of the extreme child abuse case where exposed by several Dallas media outlets including the Fort Worth Star Telegram. (Video / News Article).

For more information about the conference, please visit the website or call Martha Alvarado at (915) 546-8160.
