El Paso Community College (EPCC) is proud to announce that Dean Joshua Villalobos has been elected to the position of Councilor-at-Large for The National Association of Geoscience Teachers (NAGT) Executive Committee.
By serving on this committee Villalobos will be able to share EPCC’s efforts in science at the national level and create new opportunities for students in the field. “Being elected by my peers from across the US is a big honor for me,” said Joshua Villalobos, Dean of Instructional Programs, Mission del Paso campus. “I hope to bring insight to the unique challenges we all face in higher education in getting students engaged in the geosciences not only from the instructional side but now from the administrative side as well.”
Since 1938, the NAGT has been working towards three main goals: to improve geoscience education, to emphasize the relevance and cultural significance of the earth sciences, and to disseminate knowledge to educators and the general public.
EPCC builds community and national awareness by growing partnerships by sharing the many ways EPCC transforms students’ lives and impacts the community and region.
The newly-elected officers will be welcomed at the upcoming 2017 Geological Society of America Annual Meeting, October 22-25, 2017.
