Hell Paso ZBC Presents Cranksgiving 2017 on November 18th benefiting the Rescue Mission of El Paso. Part scavenger hunt, part food drive, part alley cat race, Cranksgiving is an event that allows the cycling community to give back to the cities they ride in.
The concept started in New York City, where Cranksgiving has been helping to feed the homeless for 20 years. The event has expanded across the country and into Canada and now it comes to El Paso.
Organizers explain, “Teams of three roam around the city, going store to store, aisle to aisle, looking to gather the required items. First team to make it back to the Rescue Mission with all the items wins our hearts and prizes.”
The Rescue Mission of El Paso is a shelter for persons experiencing homelessness, providing three fresh meals a day, shower and laundry facilities, job search help, counseling and Bible study classes. Programs at the Rescue Mission are completely funded by donors.
All products gathered will go to help the Rescue Mission of El Paso.
For those who don’t feel like racing there is a Fun Ride version, with a lower amount of miles, but the same amount of support going to our Rescue Mission.
Requirements for the race are:
– Any working bicycle, 1, 2, or 3 wheels, as long as it moves when you pedal.
– Bag/Backpack/Purse, whatever to carry items
– A working LOCK, you’ll be locking your bike outside stores
– Around $10-15 for food items!
