The Department of Public Relations at the Ysleta Independent School District captured eight national awards for excellence in branding, promotions, videos, and graphics as part of the 2018 Publications and Digital Media Awards given by the National School Public Relations Association (NSPRA).
Ysleta ISD was the only school district in El Paso to receive 2018 NSPRA awards. More than 1,000 entries from school districts and education agencies in the United States and Canada were submitted for the recognition, which highlighted outstanding school public relations work performed during the 2017-18 academic year.
Every year, NSPRA hands out various honors as part of its annual Publications and Digital Media awards program. The highest is the Award of Excellence, followed by the Award of Merit.
Ysleta ISD won the top award – Award of Excellence – for its branding/image package called, “For the Competitors,” which included multidimensional images of student athletes that were prominently featured on two district bus wraps, as well as still/digital advertisements for recruitment that also revolved around the themes, “For the Dreamers” and “For the Innovators.”
YISD also earned four Awards of Merit for its 2017 Annual Report; Vision 2020 Strategic Action Plan; the 2017-18 Support & Teacher of the Year Gala branding package; and the Service Excellence branding package, which was implemented districtwide in 2017-18 as part of a comprehensive effort to improve customer service.
Ysleta ISD also captured three other national awards for its 2017 “This is the Year” Convocation video; a video on Parkland Middle School students who mailed supportive letters to their peers at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida; and a trifold summarizing the Vision 2020 Strategic Action Plan.
