Women in STEM Program at NMSU now Accepting Applications

On Feb. 17-19, Engineering New Mexico Resource Network will be hosting a Discovering Diversity in Engineering: Women in STEM weekend getaway for female 11th and 12th grade students to learn about college life and engineering careers.

The three-day, residential weekend getaway is hosted by the New Mexico State University College of Engineering and funded in part by the Halliburton Foundation.

Students will gain skills in communication, decision analysis, team building, leadership and design thinking by working with female engineering faculty members. In addition, attendees will learn more about career opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields.

Discovering Diversity in Engineering is designed to increase the number of females entering the engineering workforce. This program builds on a national initiative led by DiscoverE under the Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day, which is held annually during National Engineering Week, Feb. 19-25.

Applications are now being accepted from female students currently in 11th and 12th grade at https://engr.nmsu.edu/enmrn/stem-outreach/women-in-stem/. The deadline to apply is Jan. 31.
