UPDATE: El Paso Bandits Beat Baltimore Warriors 12-6 to Win AYF Nat’l Championship

UPDATE: The El Paso Bandits are National Champions after defeating the Baltimore Warriors 12-6 at the American Youth Football National Championships in Kissimmee, Florida, Thursday morning.

While most area football teams have hung up the cleats and put away the pads, the El Paso Bandits are in a National Championship Game Thursday.

The 13-year-old and under El Paso Bandits advanced to the American Youth Football National Championships in Kissimmee, Florida.

The AYF National tournament is to youth football what the Little League World Series is to youth baseball.

The road to the championship has been a long one for the Bandits, as Regional Champions travel from throughout the country to compete for the title of national champion.

The Bandits earned their spot in the Championship game by being crowned champions of the Badlands Conference (El Paso Area) and defeating teams from Albuquerque, Dallas, Southern California and Rhode Island.

The American Youth Football National Tournament included Over 130 football teams representing 8 regions throughout the United States.

All American Game Set to Feature Three El Paso Youth Football Players

Three El Paso youth football players have been selected to play in the upcoming Freedom All American Game in Santa Ana, California this Sunday.

The trio, made up of 8th Grader Jose Flores, and 5th graders Aydan Rodriguez and Jonathan Quezada, will be representing their teams – the T-Birds, Bandits and the Hard Hitters, and all El Paso youth football players.

Local organizer share that the trio were selected from HUDL game footage and final report card grades.   All three junior athletes trained for the regular season, and the upcoming game at Hogg U, a local strength, conditioning and performance gym.

Officials added, “We would like to wish our players good luck as they head out to California this week to play in the full-contact Freedom All American Game, representing El Paso and the talent we have here.”

They will be playing alongside athletes from Nevada, Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, New York, Hawaii, Utah, Arizona, Kentucky, Washington, Texas, Indiana and California.
