Steven Randall’s Border Art Residency Show Set for May 11

Virginia artist Steven Randall concludes his 2016-17 Border Art Residency with an exhibit/reception from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 11 in the new Roderick Artspace Lofts located at 601 North Oregon.

“The Border Art Residency has been one of my most treasured experiences,” Randall said. “Having ten months to focus solely on creating, researching, and experimenting in such a spacious studio has been an incredible opportunity to really develop my work. I’m so grateful to have lived in such a cool space, and this is definitely the most beautiful landscape I’ve ever worked in — I’m really going to miss it.”

Randall has a BFA from Albert University’s School of Art and Design and an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University. He works with sculpture, photography and installation to examine the relationship between consumer, commodity, and transformation.

The work in this show was created during his residency, which began last fall at the BAR studio in La Union, NM.

Admission to the exhibit in the El Paso Community Foundation Gallery is a $10 suggested donation to the Border Art Residency, a supporting organization of the El Paso Community Foundation.
