Officials with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service Master Gardener’s program are once again inviting residents to apply to the county program.
“El Paso County Master Gardeners are members of the local community who are enthusiastic, love gardening and are willing to share their knowledge with others,” officials with Texas A&M stated.
Persons interested in applying for the 2018 Master Gardener Volunteer Training Course must fill out an application by August 17 and attend the orientation on August 30.
AgriLife officials add, “What really sets Master Gardeners apart is their special training in horticulture and other work as Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service volunteers, helping Extension to provide horticultural information to El Paso County residents.”
The training course will be held on Thursdays, September 6 to November 15, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension office at the Ascarate Annex at 301 Manny Martinez Sr. Drive.
There is a $195 registration fee for the course. Once residents complete the required classroom time, 62 hours of volunteer time are required to complete the training.
Space is limited, so interested persons should contact Denise Rodriguez at 915-771-2354. Applications can be downloaded online
