Animal Services fees waived as Part of “Just One Day” Campaign

This Sunday, June 11, 2017, the El Paso Department of Animal Services will take part in the “Just One Day” campaign by suspending euthanasia and focusing shelter resources solely on adoptions.

Last year’s Just One Day adoption event was a success, with Animal Services adopting 180 animals during the single day campaign.

This national campaign asks that shelters nationwide refrain from euthanizing any of its savable animals for just one day on June 11. Animal Services is not only making this pledge, but will host a “No Kill, No Fee” adoption promotion on Sunday, waiving all adoption fees in order to save as many lives as possible.

Though fees will be waived, donations of canned kitten and puppy food are welcomed. Shelter pets will be available on a first come, first served basis.

Animal Services Partners with Finding Rover App to Help Reunite Lost Pets, Promote Adoption

Lost pet facial recognition has now come to El Paso Animal Services through a partnership with the innovative Finding Rover mobile application.

Finding Rover is a free, social media-based app that uses facial-recognition technology to help reunite lost pets with their families, while also allowing people to view found animals that are in our care at the Animal Services Shelter.

Additionally, people looking to adopt can also see our animals that are available for adoption on the Finding Rover app.

As part of this effort, dogs that leave the shelter will already be pre-registered in the Finding Rover database.  The dog’s record can be automatically transferred to another Finding Rover account once the person who has taken the dog home registers.

Furthermore, Animal Services Officers will also utilize the Finding Rover application in the community, so when a dog gets lost in the future, the Finding Rover app will make it easier in bringing that dog back home.

To mark the start of this partnership, Animal Services will be waiving adoption fees starting on December 15 through December 18 for anyone who downloads the app and shows proof to the Adoption Office.

With the Finding Rover partnership, Animal Services is now able to offer the El Paso community this great tool to help lost and adoptable dogs find their forever home through (mobile app and website).
