El Paso Rose Garden Open on Easter Sunday

Those El Pasoans looking for a colorful place to spend part of Easter Sunday, now have another choice.

The City of El Paso Parks and Recreation Department reminds the public that the El Paso Rose Garden, located at 1702 N. Copia will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Easter Sunday, March 27th.

Rose Garden (2)The Rose Garden is a great place to take family, loved ones and friends to visit this dynamic and scenic venue that captures the essence of the many different types of roses in central El Paso.

In addition to some of the roses that are in bloom, the rose garden has a walking path, water fall, palm trees and many other amenities.

The El Paso Rose Garden is managed by the El Paso Parks and Recreation Department in partnership with Texas AgriLife, El Paso Rose Society and the Master Gardeners of El Paso.

City’s Rose Garden to Reopen March 1st

The El Paso Rose Garden, located at 1702 N. Copia Street, will open for a new season on March 1, 2016.

Denise Rodriguez, Horticulture Extension Agent with Texas AgriLife said, “We are pleased to partner with the City on this amazing garden. Our Master Gardeners not only volunteer their time but they share their knowledge with the community. We welcome anyone interested in growing roses to stop by and ask a Master Gardener.”

According to the garden’s website, there are more than 1460 rose bushes of more than 320 different rose varieties on display. The first 200 roses were planted in April 1958 by the City of El Paso and the El Paso Rose Society. The Rose Garden opened to the public in May 1959. Initially one-and-a-half acres, it was expanded to its present size in 2005-2006 by the City of El Paso.

The daily hours of operation at the 4 acre site will be from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. except for official city holidays until closing on November 30, 2016 for the winter season.
