EPCC students will go to Austin, Texas to take part in Community College Day 2017 at the Texas State Capitol on Tuesday, February 7 th .
Schools from across the state will converge to inform legislators about the great work community colleges are doing to educate and train the future workforce.
“I am able to be the voice for students and to bring the concerns of community colleges to their attention,” said Christal Tucker, EPCC Student Government Association President.
The EPCC team is part of the Student Government Association. They will meet with El Paso Legislators as well as members of key committees making decisions on education issues. EPCC will advocate for the Jobsand Education for Texans (JET) Grant which will fund workforce, tax-free text books and continued funding of community colleges by the legislature.
Community College Day is an annual event to raise awareness and tell the story of how community colleges make a difference in student’s lives. The event is organized by the Texas Association of Community Colleges (TACC).
