El Paso County Sheriff’s Office rescues dog trapped on rock quarry cliff for 3 days

One lucky pup has the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office and the Montana Vista Fire Department to thank for saving his life.

According to EPCSO officials on Tuesday, February 25th,  the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Animal Welfare Unit got the call regarding a dog stuck on a cliff at the rock quarry on O’Leary Rd. in Montana Vista, in far east El Paso County.

According to the caller, the dog had been there for approximately 3 days, and they had been unable to rescue the dog due to the location.

The Sheriff’s Office Animal Welfare Unit rushed to the scene and, with the assistance of the Montana Vista Fire Department, the dog was rescued from the cliff.

EPCSO officials say the dog, a large male brindle, will be fostered while a forever home can be secured. Additionally, the foster care home will be taking the dog in for a medical assessment to ensure he is in good health.

Any community members wishing to donate to cover the dog’s medical bills, the foster will be accepting donations through her Venmo account, @Dev4Dogs.

Those interested in adopting the dog can contact Public Information Officer Leslie Antunez at 915-479-1678.
