TxDoT/Go10 Construction, Detours for Week of July 22

Here’s a look at the TxDoT and GO10  project closures for the week ahead. Below are the highlights, summarized major activities and  the complete lists via hyperlinks.

Montana/Mattox Traffic and Operation Improvements Project

Starting Monday July 23 – continuous until further notice

  • Montana will be reduced to two lanes east and westbound between Hawkins Boulevard and Rutherglen Street

Alameda Reconstruction Project

Monday, July 23 (closure until further notice)
9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Alameda Avenue (SH 20) westbound lane closure between Gaspar Street and Walmart Supercenter intersection
  • Alameda Avenue (SH 20) traffic will be channelized to a single lane in each direction, utilizing the newly constructed SH 20 eastbound lanes

Braided Ramp:

Monday, July 23 (closure until November)
8 a.m.

  • Gateway Boulevard (I-10) westbound Viscount entrance ramp closes

Westway Project Phase III

Monday, July 23 through Wednesday, July 25
9 p.m. to 6 a.m. (nightly)

  • Complete closure on I-10 east and westbound at Vinton

 

US 54 Widening and Illumination Project

Monday, July 23 through Wednesday, July 25
9 p.m. to 5 a.m. (nightly)

  • Complete closure of US 54 southbound between Hondo Pass Drive and Hercules Avenue
  • Crews will be working on the pedestrian bridge, pouring concrete and then letting it cure
  • Detour: Southbound traffic will exit US 54 southbound Hercules exit ramp, go through Hercules and Dyer intersections and back onto the freeway at Dyer-US 54

 

Mesa Park Project

Sunday, July 22 through Thursday, July 26
9 p.m. to 6 a.m. (nightly)

  • Complete closure on I-10 eastbound at Executive
  • Detour: Eastbound traffic will exit at the Executive exit ramp and re-enter at the Wyoming entrance ramp

  • Complete closure on I-10 Eastbound at Executive
  • Detour: Eastbound traffic will exit at the North Mesa (11) exit ramp and re-enter at the Downtown Wyoming entrance ramp

  • Complete closure on I-10 eastbound at Sunland Park
  • Detour: Traffic will exit at Sunland Park and re-enter at Executive

·      I-10 Eastbound will close at North Mesa Street (exit 11). Detour: Motorists will exit at North Mesa Street (Exit 11) and will be able to re-enter I-10 Eastbound at the downtown Wyoming Avenue entrance ramp.

·      The Sunland Park Drive overpass at I-10 will close in both directions.

·      The North Mesa Street entrance ramp to I-10 Eastbound will close.

·      The Resler Drive entrance ramp to I-10 Eastbound will close.

·      Both Sunland Park Drive entrance ramps to I-10 Eastbound will close.

·      Crockett Street access to Paisano Drive (US 85) will close.

 

Crews will be constructing bridges in several locations inside the GO 10 project limits.

 

Note: This closure happens in conjunction with a different closure of I-10 Eastbound, which starts at Executive Center Boulevard and is being conducted by the Mesa Park Project. North Mesa Street

·      The right lane on North Mesa Street (SH 20) – in the direction traveling toward Doniphan Drive – will close between North Desert Boulevard and Osborne Drive.

 

Crews will continue work on a water storm drain.

 

Note:  One Sun Metro bus stop on North Mesa Street at Osborne Drive (near Taco Cabana) will be closed July 25-27 due to this work activity. ·      I-10 Eastbound will close completely between the Sunland Park exit and entrance ramps.

·      The Sunland Park Drive flyover ramp to I-10 Eastbound will close.

·      Paisano Drive (US 85), including the entrance ramp to I-10 Eastbound, will close.

·      Crockett Street access to Paisano Drive (US 85) will close.

·      The Resler Drive flyover ramp to I-10 Eastbound will close.

·      I-10 Westbound will close completely between the Sunland Park exit and entrance ramps.

 

Detours:

o   Motorists on I-10 Westbound will exit at Sunland Park (Exit 13) and immediately re-enter I-10 at the next entrance ramp.

o   Motorists on I-10 Eastbound will exit at Sunland Park (Exit 13), then follow Sunland Park Drive to Doniphan Dr., then follow Doniphan Dr. to Executive Center Boulevard. Motorists may re-enter I-10 using the Executive Center Boulevard entrance ramp.

 

Crews will be installing underpass lighting, installing concrete pavement, and working on bridge structures.

 

 

North Desert Boulevard

  • North Desert Boulevard is reduced to one lane for approximately 2,000 feet starting at North Mesa Street. The entrance ramp to I-10 Westbound will remain open.

  • Complete closure on US 54 southbound between Sean Haggerty entrance ramp to the Hondo Pass entrance ramp
  • Detour: Southbound traffic will stay on the frontage road and enter US 54 at the Transmountain entrance ramp

Spalling Repair Project

Tuesday, May 29, through Thursday, May 31
9 p.m. to 5 a.m. (nightly)

  • Alternate lane closures on I-10 westbound between Copia overpass to the Cotton overpass
  • I-10 westbound Piedras entrance and exit ramps will be closed
  • Ramp K (US 54 south to I-10 west) will be closed
  • Crews will be repairing spalled concrete pavement (potholes) in the area

Mall Braided Ramps Project

  • Gateway Boulevard eastbound and westbound alternating right or left lane closures between Viscount Boulevard and Airway Boulevard
  • Crews will be installing high mast illumination

TxDoT/Go10 Project Closures/Detours for Week of May 12

Crews will be busy throughout the Borderland this weekend as they continue demolition of Sunland Park bridges this weekend, among other projects.

  • I-10 at Sunland Park 57-hour runs through Monday at 6 a.m. I-10 will be closed in both directions along with Sunland Park Drive from Mesa Hills to Paisano, associated ramps plus Resler on ramp. More details online
  • Diana underpass closes for three months starting May 15. To prepare, Gateway South Diana to Hondo Pass will be closed Monday night 9 p.m. -5 a.m. so crews can stripe. Drivers can use gateways and turnarounds at Transmountain and Hondo Pass. More info here

·      The Sunland Park flyover entrance ramp to I-10 Eastbound will close.

·      The Resler entrance ramp to I-10 Eastbound will close.

·      All access points to Paisano Drive (US 85) will close.

 

Detours:

    • I-10 Westbound traffic will exit at Sunland (Exit 13) and follow Sunland Park Drive to North Mesa Street (SH 20), then follow North Mesa Street (SH 20) to re-enter I-10 Westbound from the North Mesa Street (SH 20) entrance ramp.
    • I-10 Eastbound traffic will exit at Sunland (Exit 13) and immediately re-enter I-10 at the next ramp.

 

Crews will be removing 28 steel girders from the old Sunland flyover ramp. Each girder weighs more than 100,000 pounds.

 

Oversized vehicles on I-10 Westbound should use an alternate route to avoid the I-10/Sunland Park interchange during this weekend closure.

 

North Desert Boulevard

 

Continuous, 24/7

Monday, April 30 and until further notice

 

·      North Desert Boulevard is reduced to one lane for approximately 2,000 feet starting at North Mesa Street. The entrance ramp will remain open.

 

Crews are widening North Desert Boulevard.

 

I-10 West at Sunland

May 14 and 15

9 pm each night to 6 am each morning

 

·      I-10 Westbound will close between the Sunland Park exit ramp and the Sunland Park entrance ramp.

·      The Sunland Park Drive overpass will close in both directions.

·      Access to the entrance ramp to I-10 Westbound from Sunland Park Drive will be subject to closure.

 

Detour: Motorists on I-10 Westbound will exit at Sunland Park (Exit 13) and immediately re-enter I-10 using the next entrance ramp. Motorists on Sunland Park Drive should follow the detour signs.

 

North Mesa Street

 

Overnight

May 14-17

9 pm each night to 6 am each morning

 

·      North Mesa Street (SH 20) will reduce to one lane in both directions between Osborne Drive and Remcon Circle.

 

Crews are demolishing the median of North Mesa Street (SH 20) and installing temporary paving.

 

I-10 West at North Mesa

 

Overnight

May 15-17

9 pm each night to 6 am each morning

 

·      I-10 Westbound will close at North Mesa Street (Exit 11).

·      North Mesa Street (SH 20) will close in both directions under the I-10 overpass.

 

Detour: I-10 Westbound traffic will exit at North Mesa (Exit 11) and immediately re-enter I-10 Westbound at the next entrance ramp. Traffic on North Mesa Street (SH 20) should follow the detour signs in place.

 

Crews will be setting bridge girders for what will be the new I-10 Westbound overpass.

 

I-10/Sunland Park

 

57-HOUR WEEKEND CLOSURE

·      I-10 in both directions will be closed at the Sunland Park exit and entrance ramps.

·      Sunland Park Drive southbound will close at Mesa Hills Drive.

·      Sunland Park Drive northbound will close at Paisano Drive (US 85).

·      The Sunland Park entrance ramp to I-10 Westbound will close.

·      The Sunland Park flyover entrance ramp to I-10 Eastbound will close.

·      The Resler entrance ramp to I-10 Eastbound will close.

·      All access points to Paisano Drive (US 85) will close.

 

Detours:

    • I-10 Westbound traffic will exit at Sunland (Exit 13) and follow Sunland Park Drive to North Mesa St (SH 20), then follow North Mesa St (SH 20) to re-enter I-10 Westbound from the North Mesa entrance ramp.

TxDoT/Go10 Projects for Week of January 2nd

The arrival of the new year means the resumption of construction on the Go10 Project.

Via a news release, project officials remind motorists that all closures are subject to change and all closure times are approximate.

Officials add that exit and entrance ramps may close up to one hour prior to the start time of an I-10 highway closure

Note:  The traffic signals at the I-10/Sunland Park intersections will be out of order during this closure. Police officers will be on-site to control traffic. Please approach with caution.

I-10 West @ Executive

·      I-10 Westbound will close completely between Executive Center Boulevard (Exit 16) and Sunland Park Drive.

·      The right lane on I-10 Eastbound will close between Sunland Park Drive and Executive Center Boulevard.

·      Paisano Drive entrance ramp to I-10 Eastbound (in front of the auto dealerships) will close.

·      Crockett Street access will not be available to Paisano Drive nor to the I-10 Eastbound entrance ramp.

·      The Schuster/UTEP entrance ramp to I-10 Westbound will close.

Paisano (US 85)

Jan. 15-Feb. 11

·      Paisano Drive (US 85) will close completely for approximately 300 feet starting at Sunland Park Drive.

 

Detour:  To enter I-10 Eastbound, motorists should take North Mesa Street (SH 20) to Executive Center Boulevard, then enter I-10 Eastbound from the Executive Center Boulevard entrance ramp.

 

Note:  Sunland Park Drive traffic, coming from Doniphan Drive, will have access to Paisano Drive (US 85) using a new dedicated right-turn lane. Follow the detour signs. Access to area businesses will be available via Constitution Drive and Crockett Street.

 

TxDoT/Go10 Closures for Week of December 17

While many are set for the Christmas break and the holiday season, crews with TxDoT and the Go10 Project continue to work to keep the region’s traffic flowing.

Next week’s closures are mostly happening overnight.

As always, all closures are subject to change, and all closure times are approximate.

Exit and entrance ramps may close up to one hour prior to the start time of an I‐10 highway closure.

Detour:  Motorists who wish to enter I-10 Eastbound from Redd Road should stay on South Desert Blvd. frontage road and enter using the North Mesa Street (SH 20) eastbound entrance ramp. Motorists wishing to exit I-10 Eastbound at North Mesa Street (Exit 11) should use an alternate exit ramp. Watch for detour signage.

Detour:  Traffic on South Desert Boulevard coming from Thorn Avenue will be detoured at McClintock Drive to Doniphan Drive. Follow the detour signs. Motorists on I-10 Eastbound who wish to exit at North Mesa Street should use an alternate exit ramp. Follow the detour signs.

 

I-10 East @ Sunland Overnight

·      The right lane on I-10 Eastbound will close between the Sunland Park Drive overpass and Buena Vista (mile marker 14).

·      The Paisano Drive entrance ramp (in front of the auto dealerships) to I-10 Eastbound will close.

 

Detour:  Motorists who wish to enter I-10 Eastbound from Paisano Drive should use an alternate entrance ramp. Follow the detour signs.

 

I-10 West @ Executive

·      I-10 Westbound will be reduced to one lane between Executive Center Boulevard and Sunland Park Drive.

TxDoT/Go10 Project Closures, Detours for Week of December 10

Paisano Drive (US 85) will be inaccessible from Sunland Park Drive for five days this week.  The five-day closure is to allow crews to prepare the area for bigger things to come after the holidays.

The image below shows where a temporary, dedicated right turn lane from Sunland Park Drive onto Paisano Drive (US 85) will be built.

The image also shows the section of Paisano Drive (US 85) that will be demolished and rebuilt after the turn lane is opened, which will be sometime in January.

The work to rebuild Paisano Drive (US 85) will mark the start of long-term limited access to Paisano Drive (US 85). Hint: Starting eye-balling alternate routes or give yourself extra time to get through the I-10/Sunland interchange.

South Desert Boulevard will close between McClintock Drive and the North Mesa Street exit ramp.

 

The North Mesa Street exit ramp (Exit 11) from I-10 Eastbound will be open.

 

Detour:  Traffic on South Desert Boulevard coming from Thorn Avenue will be detoured at McClintock Drive to Doniphan Drive, then to North Mesa Street (SH 20).

 

Crews will be building the new eastbound North Mesa exit ramp.

 

North Mesa @ I-10

 

Daytime

Dec. 11-22

9 am to 4 pm weekdays only

The right lane on North Mesa Street (SH 20) will close between North Desert Blvd and Osborne Drive.

 

Crews are building new roadways that connect to North Mesa Street (SH 20).

 

Paisano (US 85) @ Sunland Continuous

5 am Dec. 11 through

5 pm Dec. 15

 

Paisano Drive (US 85) eastbound frontage road will close at Sunland Park Drive.

 

Access:  Area businesses and the I-10 Eastbound entrance ramp will be accessible via Constitution Drive and Crockett Street. Follow the detour signs.

 

Crews are building a temporary, dedicated right turn lane, which is expected to open to traffic in January. This work is in preparation for more intense work at the I-10/Sunland Park interchange throughout 2018.

 

Sunland @ I-10 West

Dec. 11 and 12

9 pm each night to 6 am each morning

 

The Sunland Park entrance ramp to I-10 Westbound will close.

 

Detour:  Motorists will be detoured onto Doniphan Drive, then take Doniphan Drive to North Mesa Street (SH 20) where drivers may enter I-10 Westbound. Follow the detour signs.

 

I-10 East @ Sunland Overnight

Dec. 11 and 12

9 pm each night to 6 am each morning

 

·      I-10 Eastbound will close completely at Sunland Park Drive (Exit 13).

·      Paisano Drive (US 85) entrance ramp to I-10 Eastbound will close.

·      The Sunland Park flyover entrance ramp to I-10 Eastbound will close.

 

Detour:  Motorists on I-10 Eastbound will exit at Sunland Park Drive and take it to North Mesa Street (SH 20). They will then take North Mesa Street (SH 20) to Executive Center Blvd. Drivers will be able to re-enter I-10 East from Executive Center Blvd.

I-10 West @ Executive

Dec. 13 and 14

9 pm each night to 6 am each morning

·      I-10 Westbound will close completely at Executive Center Boulevard (Exit 16).

·      Paisano Drive (US 85) entrance ramp to I-10 Eastbound will close. (No access via Crockett Street.)

·      The Schuster/UTEP entrance ramp to I-10 Westbound will close.

 

Detour:  Motorists on I-10 Westbound will exit at Executive Center Boulevard (Exit 16) and take North Mesa Street (SH 20) to Sunland Park Drive where motorists may re-enter I-10 Westbound.

 

TxDot/Go10 Project Closures for Week of December 4th

Texas Department of Transportation Officials have released the weekly list of closures for projects around the Borderland; two closures will be in place for five solid days and nights and are flagged below.

South Desert Blvd. will close at McClintock Drive Dec. 4-8.

Paisano Drive will close at Sunland Park Drive Dec. 11-15.

Note: This closure will be implemented on an “as needed” basis, therefore, this closure may be canceled on some days between Dec. 4-9.

 

North Mesa @ I-10 Daytime

Dec. 4-8

9 am to 4 pm daily

The right lane on North Mesa Street (SH 20) will close between North Desert Boulevard and Osborne Drive.

 

Crews will be building new roadways that connect to North Mesa Street (SH 20).

 

I-10 East @ Redd

 

Overnight

Sunday, Dec. 3

9 pm to 6 am

·      I-10 Eastbound will close completely between Redd Road (Exit 9) and North Mesa Street (SH 20).

·      The Redd Road entrance ramp to I-10 Eastbound will close.

 

Detour: Traffic will exit at Redd Road (Exit 9) then take South Desert Blvd to North Mesa Street (SH 20).

Crews will be moving barrier walls and re-striping.

South Desert

South Desert Boulevard will close between McClintock Drive and the North Mesa Street exit ramp.

 

Note:  The North Mesa Street exit ramp (Exit 11) from I-10 Eastbound will be open.

Detour:  Traffic on South Desert Boulevard coming from Thorn Avenue will be detoured at McClintock Drive. Motorists will take McClintock Drive to Doniphan Drive, then take Doniphan Drive to North Mesa Street. (SH 20).

Crews will be building the new eastbound North Mesa exit ramp.

 

I-10 East @ Sunland

 

Overnight

Dec. 4 and 5

9 pm each night to 6 am each following morning

 

·      I-10 Eastbound will close completely at the Sunland Park Drive exit (Exit 13).

·      The Sunland Park flyover ramp to I-10 Eastbound will close.

·      The Sunland Park Drive overpass will close completely in both directions.

 

Detour:  Motorists on I-10 Eastbound will exit at Sunland Park Drive and re-enter I-10 Eastbound at the next entrance ramp. Motorists on Sunland Park Drive should follow the detour signs.

Crews will be conducting bridgework.

  

I-10 West @ Executive

 

Overnight

Dec. 6

9 pm to 6 am the following morning

 

·      I-10 Westbound will close completely at the Executive Center Boulevard exit (Exit 16).

·      The Sunland Park Drive overpass will close completely in both directions.

·      The Schuster/UTEP entrance ramp to I-10 Westbound will close.

Paisano Drive (US 85) frontage road will close at the Sunland Park Drive intersection.

 

Note:  Access to area businesses will be open via Constitution Drive and Crockett Street.

Detour:  Motorists may access Paisano Drive (US 85) and the I-10 Eastbound on-ramp via Constitution Drive and Crockett Street. Follow the detour signs.

Crews will be building a dedicated right turn lane from Sunland Park Drive to Paisano Drive (US 85). The right turn lane will allow traffic to keep moving while crews work intensely on this corner of the I-10/Sunland Park interchange over the next several months.

The I-10/Sunland interchange will be focus of construction throughout 2018.
