Go10/TxDoT Closures, Detours for Week of December 9

A 27-hour closure is set for Sunland Park Drive this Sunday, December 9, starting at 3 am.  The closure is scheduled to lift by 6 am on Monday, December 10; but, crews are aiming to lift it early – possibly by 8 pm on Sunday, December 9.

We will keep you updated on Twitter and Facebook.  The purpose of this closure is to open four of traffic (two lanes in each direction) on the Sunland Park Drive main, middle overpass.

GO10

Sunland Park

27-Hour Closure
Sunday, Dec. 9 at 3 a.m. until Monday, Dec. 10 at 6 a.m.

  • Sunland Park Drive will close in both directions between Machuca Road and the mall signalized intersection.
  • All Sunland Park exit ramps and entrance ramps at I-10 will close.
  • Paisano Drive (US 85) westbound will close at McNutt Road (NM 273). Detour: Motorists on westbound Paisano Drive (US 85) will exit at McNutt Road (NM 273).
  • The Racetrack Drive entrance ramp to westbound Paisano Drive (US 85) will close.
  • Lane pattern change: The goal is to open more traffic lanes on the Sunland Park Drive middle overpass.
  • Note: This work activity is subject to cancellation. There is a chance that this closure will lift by 8 p.m. the night of Dec. 9. Updates will be posted to the GO 10 websiteTwitter and Facebook.

 

North Mesa

Sunday, Dec. 9 through Thursday, Dec. 13
8 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. each morning

  • North Mesa Street (SH 20) will close in both directions between Remcon Circle and Osborne Drive.
  • All North Mesa entrance ramps and exit ramps (Exit 11) at I-10 will close.
  • South Desert Boulevard will close between McClintock Drive and North Mesa Street (SH 20).
  • McClintock Drive access to South Desert Boulevard will close.
  • Crews will be installing concrete pavement on the exit and entrance ramps and on the new westbound to eastbound Texas turnaround lane.
  • Possible lane pattern change: On the night of Thursday, Dec. 13, crews will try to put in place a change to traffic lane patterns on North Mesa Street between Remcon and Osborne. This change to traffic patterns is dependent on weather as well as other work activities elsewhere within the GO 10 project limits. On the morning of Friday, Dec. 14, motorists should approach North Mesa Street near the I-10 overpass with caution as traffic lane patterns may have been re-configured.

 

I-10 West at Executive

9 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. each morning

  • I-10 westbound will close between Executive Center Boulevard and Sunland Park Drive.
  • The Schuster/UTEP entrance ramp to I-10 westbound will close.
  • Detour: Motorists on I-10 westbound will exit at Executive Center (Exit 16), follow Executive Center Boulevard to North Mesa Street, then follow North Mesa to Sunland Park Drive. Motorists may re-enter I-10 westbound via the Sunland Park entrance ramp.

 

Mesa Park Interchange Project

Executive

Friday, Dec. 14 through Monday, Dec. 17 (57 hour closure)
9 p.m. to 6 a.m. (continuous closure)

  • I-10 eastbound Executive entrance ramp will be closed
  • Monday, Dec. 17 during the morning hours traffic will enter I-10 eastbound under a temporary ramp, while the old adjacent entrance ramp undergoes construction
  • Traffic Signal outage to occur on Saturday morning between 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.
  • To avoid congestion in the area, traffic should seek alternate routes through Schuster or Downtown entrance ramps.

Sunday, Dec. 16
9 p.m. to 6 a.m. (one night only)

  • Two right lane closures on I-10 eastbound at the Executive underpass
  • Crews will be installing temporary pavement marking and placement of barrier.

  • DETOUR: Southbound traffic will need to exit at the Transmountain exit ramp and re-enter at the Hondo Pass entrance ramp
  • Crews will be grinding the roadway and installing overhead signs in the area.

TxDoT/Go10 Detours, Closures for Week of November 11

Here’s a look at the  project closures for the week ahead, with extracted highlights, as well as the complete lists via hyperlinks below.

GO 10 will open the Sunland Park main overpass in phases starting next week. That means that motorists that take the Sunland Park overpass as part of their regular commute need to be cautious next week and expect a change in lane patterns.

Mesa Park Project

  • North Mesa Street (SH 20) eastbound lanes (traveling in the direction toward Remcon) will close between Osborne Drive and Remcon Circle.
  • The North Mesa exit ramp (Exit 11) from I-10 eastbound will be open; however, motorists will only be able to turn right onto North Mesa Street (SH 20) at the North Mesa signalized intersection.
  • The North Mesa entrance ramp to I-10 eastbound will close. Detour: Motorists should use an alternate entrance ramp.
  • The North Mesa exit ramp (Exit 11) from I-10 westbound will close.
  • Crews will be installing concrete pavement on North Mesa Street (SH 20).

Sunland Park

Tuesday, November 13 through Thursday, November 15
8 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. each morning

  • The exit ramps and entrance ramps at the I-10/Sunland Park interchange will close.

TxDoT/Go10 Project Closures, Detours for Week of November 4

Here’s a look at the TxDoT and Go10 project closures for the week ahead.  In addition, there is a major milestone scheduled for this month.

On November 11 and 18, GO 10 crews plan to OPEN the Sunland Park main overpass in two phases.

Opening the overpass will require two 27-hour closures of the I-10/Sunland Park interchange. As always, all closures are subject change or cancelation due to weather. Updates are being posted to the GO 10 website.

US 54 Widening and Illumination Project

Wednesday, Nov. 7
9 p.m. to 6 a.m. (one night only)

  • Complete closure on US 54 southbound between Transmountain to Hondo Pass
  • Detour: Southbound traffic will need to exit at the Transmountain exit ramp and re-enter at the Hondo Pass entrance ramp (existing ramp will be closed and the new ramps will be opened)

Sunday, Nov. 11
9 p.m. to 6 a.m. (one night only)

  • Complete closure on US 54 northbound between Transmountain to Hondo Pass
  • Detour: Southbound traffic will need to exit at the Hondo Pass exit ramp and re-enter at the Transmountain entrance ramp (existing ramp will be closed and the new ramps will be opened)
  • Diana underpass will open upon completion of work in the area. (until further notice)

Go10/TxDoT Closures, Detours for Week of October 14

Here’s a look at the  project closures for the week ahead. Highlights are below and the complete lists can be viewed via hyperlinks at the start of the chart.

With more rain expected today and this weekend, remember to take extra precautions on our roads:

  • If water is covering a road, don’t try to cross. As little as six inches of water can float some vehicles.
  • It is illegal to remove barricades blocking lower water crossings. Penalties can range from $200 to $1,000 and/or two years in jail.
  • Never try to walk, swim or drive through swift water.
  • If your vehicle stalls in deep water, leave it and move to higher ground if you can do so safely.
  • Turn around; don’t drown.

A couple of lane pattern changes to be aware of:

  • Between October 14 and 18, lane patterns will change on South Desert Boulevard after the North Mesa exit ramp (Exit 11) from I-10 Eastbound.
  • Between October 21 and November 5, lane patterns will change on North Mesa Street (SH 20) between Remcon and Osborne. Changes are dependent on weather conditions.

Mesa Park Interchange Project

Go10/TxDoT Closures for Week of October 7

This week’s closures are identical to last week’s; however, one thing to note:  the closure of I-10 Westbound at Executive on Sunday, October 7 may be eclipsed by the Mesa Park Project.

The Mesa Park folks plan to close I-10 Westbound at Schuster on that same night.   Mesa Park Project closures are listed at the TxDOT website.  Additionally  GO 10’s 27-hour closure of North Mesa is has been bumped again and is now set for October 21-22.

The latest on I-10/Sunland Park

Earlier this month, we told you crews were aiming to complete the Sunland Park Drive main overpass by the end of September.  Due to inclement weather and due to delays at a different location, crews are now aiming for mid-November to open the main overpass at Sunland Park Drive.

The latest on I-10/Resler

Once the Sunland Park overpass is open, the plan is to close the westbound Resler exit ramp for approximately six to eight weeks. Crews will be reconfiguring the Resler exit ramp and replacing the ramp’s pavement.  While the Resler exit ramp is closed, drivers may use the Sunland Park westbound exit instead. The latest on I-10/North Mesa

Two more lane pattern changes are coming to North Mesa Street (under the I-10 overpass) this year. The first lane pattern change could be in place by October 15. This change will require a 27-hour closure on October 14, as detailed below. The second change should occur before December. Delays have occurred at this location; but, plans are in place to recoup.

Almost there 

GO 10 is a four-year project that started in April 2015 and ends April 2019 (7 months away). When finished, crews will have:

  • Installed an equivalent of 72 acres of concrete pavement.
  • Erected an equivalent of 98 houses worth of retaining walls.
  • Moved enough dirt to fill 306 Olympic-sized swimming pools.
  • Built, rebuilt or widened 29 bridges – a length of approximately 11 football fields.

Last week, GO 10 announced a 27-hour closure of North Mesa Street would occur September 30-October 1.  That closure is now postponed to October 7-8.  The one proviso: inclement weather could cause the closure to be postponed again to the following weekend, October 14-15.

·      The North Mesa exit ramp from I-10 Eastbound will close. Detour: Motorists should use the Redd Road exit ramp.

·      South Desert Boulevard will be closed between McClintock Drive and North Mesa Street. 

 

Crews will be paving a section of North Mesa Street (SH 20).  For some time, it may appear as though no work is taking place; but, in fact, the new pavement requires undisturbed curing time.

 

I-10 Both Directions

Go10/TxDoT Closure for Week of August 20

Both TxDoT and EPE Crews will be busy this week, from sites stretching from Downtown El Paso to poins east and west.

First off, in order to allow El Paso Electric (EPE) crews to safely place electrical cables through the newly repaired utility bridge, consecutive overnight closures will be required.

Commuters can expect the following I-10 eastbound and westbound closures in downtown El Paso on the following dates and times:

  • Monday, August 20, 2018 – 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Tuesday, August 21, 2018 – 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Wednesday, August 22, 2018 – 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • Thursday, August 24, 2018 – 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Intermittent lane closures on Wyoming Ave, N. Stanton and E. Yandell will continue through the end of August. Final repairs of the manholes located on Wyoming and E. Yandell (next to the Howdy’s Food Mart) will continue through September.

Look for additional closures overnight next week required for utility work once the bridge is repaired.  Also motorist need to prepare for the 27-hour closure on I-10 coming up for a traffic pattern change.

·      Sunland Park Drive will close in both directions at the I-10 overpass.

Detour: Motorists on I-10 Westbound will exit at Executive Center (Exit 13), then follow it to North Mesa Street (SH 20). Follow the detour signs along North Mesa Street (SH 20) to re-enter I-10 Westbound.

IMPORTANT: By the morning of Friday, August 24 motorists on I-10 Westbound should slow down as they approach the North Mesa area because lane patterns will be shifted.

·      I-10 Eastbound will close at Sunland Park Drive (Exit 13).

·      The Sunland Park entrance ramp to I-10 Eastbound will close.

·      I-10 Eastbound will close at Redd Road (Exit 9).

·      The Redd Road entrance ramp to I-10 Eastbound will close.

 

Detour:  Motorists on I-10 Eastbound will exit at Redd Road (Exit 9), follow it to South Desert Boulevard, then follow South Desert Boulevard to North Mesa Street (SH 20). Motorists may re-enter I-10 Eastbound using the North Mesa Street entrance ramp.

IMPORTANT:  By the morning of August 27, traffic on I-10 Eastbound at North Mesa Street (SH 20) will experience a change in lane patterns. Please proceed cautiously.

 

TxDoT/Go10 Closures, Detours for Week of August 5

Here’s a look at all the project closures for the week ahead. Other highlights are included, as are the complete lists via hyperlinks.

GO 10 is on the tail-end of its four-year timeline and that means plenty of construction milestones to applaud:

  • Recently, crews finished paving half of North Mesa Street (SH 20) under the I‐10 overpass. Work will start next week to start paving the other half. Traffic on North Mesa Street (SH 20) will be switched onto the newly paved lanes later this month.
  • Next week, crews will place the final beams on the new Sunland Park overpass.
  • On August 20, the I‐10 Westbound overpass at North Mesa Street (SH 20) will open to traffic.

Plus, 27-hour closures are planned for Aug 19 and Aug 26.

·      I-10 Westbound will close at Executive Center (Exit 16).

Detour: Motorists will exit at Executive Center Boulevard (Exit 16) and follow it to North Mesa Street (SH 20). Motorists may re-enter I-10 Westbound using the North Mesa Street entrance ramp.

·      I-10 Eastbound will close at Sunland Park (Exit 13).

Detour: Motorists will exit at Sunland Park Drive (Exit 13) and immediately re-enter I-10 at the next ramp.

·      Sunland Park Drive will close in both directions at the I-10 overpass.

·      Crockett Street access to Paisano Drive (US 85) will close.

·      The Resler Drive flyover entrance ramp to I-10 Eastbound will close.

·      The Schuster Avenue entrance ramp to I-10 Westbound will close.

 

Milestone: Crews will be placing the final set of beams on the Sunland Park Drive overpass.

 

North Mesa Street

 

Overnight

Tuesday, August 7 through Thursday, August 9

 

8 pm each night to 6 am each morning

 

·      North Mesa Street (SH 20) – only the lanes for traffic traveling toward Remcon Circle – will close completely between South Desert Boulevard and Remcon Circle.

Detour:  Motorists on North Mesa Street (SH 20) who want to cross from the Osborne side of I-10 to the Remcon side of I-10 should use an alternate route such as Thorn Avenue or Redd Road. The Sunland Park Drive overpass will not be an alternate route option as it will also close during these nights.

·      The North Mesa exit ramp (Exit 11) from I-10 Westbound will close.

Detour:  Motorists on I-10 Westbound who want to exit at North Mesa (Exit 11) should find an alternate exit ramp or follow the detour signs in place.
