TxDoT/Go10 Project Closures, Detours for Week of January 14

Officials with the GO10 project are anticipating 2018 will be the year for ‘substantial progress’ on the structures at the I‐10/Sunland  Park Drive interchange.

That means drivers can expect some high‐profile closures throughout 2018. One of those closures starts Monday at 9 a.m. and will continue until mid‐February.

The  closure could cause traffic congestion, especially during rush hours. Motorists should plan ahead.

  • Stagger your commute times to reduce the impact of rush hours.
  • Avoid driving during rush hours altogether if you can.
  • Carpool or take Sun Metro to reduce the number of vehicles on the road.
  • Try an alternate route.
  • Before driving, check news reports, I-10 traffic cams or a traffic app to find the best route.
  • Work remotely if you can.
  • If you get caught in a traffic jam, pull off the road and patronize a nearby business.

TxDot/Go10 Closures for week of Novemeber 20

No closures are scheduled during the Thanksgiving Holiday, Nov. 22-26.  On Nov. 27, overnight closures of I-10 and along Sunland Park Drive will resume.

Crews will be conducting bridgework over I-10; but, probably more important to commuters, crews will be placing barrier walls along Sunland Park Drive to prepare for more intense work coming to the I-10/Sunland interchange in 2018.

However, a couple of 24/7 closures are coming to South Desert Blvd near North Mesa Street and Paisano Drive at Sunland Park Drive in December:

South Desert Boulevard will close off completely for 96 hours (4 days) starting Dec. 4 at McClintock Drive. Crews will be paving the new Mesa eastbound exit ramp.

Paisano Drive will close off completely at the Sunland Park Drive intersection for 120 hours (5 days) starting Dec. 11. The good news is crews will be building a dedicated right-turn lane from Sunland Park Drive (coming from Doniphan Drive) to Paisano Drive. The dedicated right-turn lane will be a temporary relief-valve to help keep traffic moving while crews increase construction in that corner of the I-10/Sunland interchange for the next several months.

TxDoT/Go10 Closures for Week of November 5

One Sunday 27-hour-closure down, one to go. Next Sunday, November 12, crews will be closing I-10 East for 27 hours, but before crews get there, there will be a big closure this week.

The night of Tuesday, Nov. 7 may be the worst of the night-time closures. An illustration of the Nov. 7th overnight closure is on map #2 below.

Aside from closures officials say,  “Progress on bridge structures is at a prolific level.  We are two years and seven months into this four-year project. Impacts to traffic is inevitably becoming more disruptive; which means, it is important that drivers pay attention to all roadside signs each and every day.”

During the week, at night, you can expect various closures of I-10 as crews work to complete more overpasses. Additionally, exit ramps and entrance ramps may close up to one hour before a scheduled I-10 highway closure.

Traffic alerts are also posted online.

TxDoT/Go10 Project Closures and Detours for Week of October 8

The pay-off will be obvious when, on October 30, traffic is driving on the all-new Resler Flyover Ramp.

Some of the details (like dates) could change about the two coming 27-hour closures (because that’s the nature of construction work); but, nonetheless, keep reading to see the plans in place for Sunday, October 29 and Sunday, November 5.

TxDoT/Go10 Closures for Week of October 1

As usual, the closures are numerous this coming week; however, there’s one closure that might affect drivers the most:  Every day this week, during the day, one lane will be closed on I-10 East between Buena Vista and Executive Center.

Via a news release, officials with the GO 10 project say, We have always tried to schedule I-10 closures during overnight hours; and it’s been working great, but… here’s the good news and bad news:

GOOD NEWS – Progress on this 4-year project is amazing. We’re a bit ahead of schedule. We got new lanes open to traffic now. The new bridges are impressive, such as that all-new Resler Flyover Ramp, which may be opened to traffic before this year is over.

BAD NEWS – Progress means that the work will encroach more and more onto the I-10 lanes, ramps and bridges that you drive on. Therefore, you can expect closures on I-10 to occur more often during the day. Be assured. GO 10 will continue to work at night, we will open new lanes and structures when they’re ready, and we will build temporary facilities (like the westbound Sunland temporary exit ramp) to help keep you moving.

Please bear with us as we push onward to 2019 (and hopefully finish earlier than planned).

Crews are breaking up old pavement, removing fencing, and eliminating illumination poles.

Meanwhile, at Executive crews next week are working on utilities and smoothing out a rough stretch of pavement. At Sunland, they continue to build bridges.
