The Opportunity Center for the Homeless will host the 5th Annual HomeRun for the Homeless 5K Run/Walk and Kids’ Dash presented by Andeavor, on Saturday, August 18.
“We are extremely grateful with Andeavor for their continued commitment to our community, their support will definitively make an impact in the lives of the people we serve”, said Ray Tullius, Founder of the Opportunity Center for the Homeless.
As in previous years the race will start and finish at the Southwest University Park. Registration is open online or the day of the event.
The race starts at 8:00 a.m. and the Kids’ Dash at 9:05 a.m., rain or shine. The registration fee is $25 for all participants and $15 for kids 12 and under.
The 5th annual event brings athletes of all abilities together to support the programs aiding homeless individuals living in the resource centers, family shelter, and housing facilities operated by the Opportunity Center for the Homeless.
Running enthusiasts and all supporters are invited to participate or attend the event to raise funds and awareness for homelessness. The 3.1 mile course runs through downtown El Paso and is perfect for first time 5K runners.
As always, participants are encouraged to form a team, bringing together friends, family and coworkers (the course is stroller-friendly.) to challenge themselves to complete the course and raise additional funds. A family-friendly information expo with activities will be at the concourse of the stadium.
The top 3 Female and Male winners will be recognized at the end of the race, along with the biggest and most spirited teams. The day’s festivities will also include various forms of entertainment, music, Chico and several El Paso community mascots.
