TNTM: Marvel Hulk and Wolverine Maquette by SideShow Unboxing

Two of Marvel’s most popular characters are the Incredible Hulk and Wolverine. Most avid comic book people know the first full appearance of Wolverine was in The Incredible Hulk #181 (Wolverine appeared as a shadowy figure on a hilltop at the end of #180).

This highly detailed maquette (a fancy French word for scale model) is inspired from that first meeting/fight between Hulk and Wolverine.

Product description taken from manufacturer’s web site:

There have been many amazing dueling duos in history, but few could possibly be as Earth-shatteringly matched as that of Hulk and Wolverine.

Sideshow’s Hulk and Wolverine Maquette is an amazing 3D recreation of not only the pair’s first meeting but of Wolverine’s introduction to the world. Captured in stunning detail, the maquette has these two brawlers locked in eternal combat. Wolverine is flying through the air while Hulk prepares to take a swing that might just end the fight.

Crafted in high-quality polystone, the Hulk and Wolverine Maquette is an impressive 23” tall. Marvel collectors won’t want to miss Sideshow’s latest dynamic diorama with this Hulk and Wolverine Maquette.

TNTM: Thor Ragnarok movie preview

Chris Hemsworth will be returning to the MCU as Thor in Thor: Ragnarok. This is the third movie in the Thor series. Even though the name is Ragnarok it will be pulling material from several sources (Ragnarok, Planet Hulk, and Contest of Champions). Don’t go into the movie expecting to see the Ragnarok story-line.

The plot as we understand it pre-release is Thor is imprisoned on the gladiatorial planet of Sakaar without his trusty hammer, Mjolnir. He must defeat Hulk in battle so he can return to Asgard in time to save it from Hela and the impending Ragnarok. In Norse mythology, Ragnarök is a series of future events foretold to ultimately result in the death of a number of major figures (including the gods Odin, Thor, Týr, Freyr, Heimdallr, and Loki).

Thor: Ragnarok promises to be a very entertaining movie. With the introduction of elements from the Planet Hulk story-line we are hoping to see a new Hulk movie telling that story.

Ragnarok will be in theaters November 3, 2017. We will be doing a review of the movie opening week so keep an eye out for that video here on this YouTube channel.

TNTM: She Hulk to get her own title

She Hulk to assume the Hulk mantle

Having the Hulk name has been detrimental to your health lately.  The Civil War II story-line has not been good to Gamma Ray Goliaths.  Jennifer Walters (She Hulk) suffers near fatal injuries from Thanos, Bruce Banner (Hulk) is killed by Hawkeye, General Thunderbolt Ross (Red Hulk) is incarcerated in a classified military prison, Betty Ross (Red She Hulk) and Skaar (Hulk’s Son) are cured of their mutation but is seen mourning Bruce at his funeral, Amadeus Cho (Totally Awesome Hulk) is distraught over Bruce’s death and goes searching for Hawkeye.  Bet you didn’t know there were so many Hulks did ya?

Remember in the last paragraph when I said Jennifer Walters suffered “NEAR” fatal injuries?  Well, gues what?  She doesn’t die.  In fact she will be coming back with her own title in late December.  Sounds like this time they are making her a bit more volatile.  She is a lawyer when she isn’t She-Hulk.  She is able to retain her level headed intelligence and logical thinking when she transforms into She-Hulk… at least she used to be able to control the beastly rage within.

It would be nice to see one of the other Hulks be able to sustain their own title for the long term.  I’m hoping this writing team can make She-Hulk a character capable of carrying her own title.  She has been a supporting role for far too long in other team comics.

Press Release

TNTM: Young super-heroes unite in CHAMPIONS!

These aren’t the Silver Age Champions you are familiar with. From the ashes of Civil War II arise the All-New, All-Different Champions. Sporting a classic name they look to the future like no super team ever before.

Concerned with healing the deep rifts in the Marvel Universe and repairing the reputation of the super hero concept.

CHAMPIONS #1 boasts the reunited team of writer Mark Waid and artist Humberto Ramos. The Champions are an unprecedented group of the hottest Marvel teen heroes: Ms. Marvel, Spider-Man, Nova, the Hulk, Cyclops, and Viv Vision. The book will address topical issues that the creators hope will spur discussion and the place of youth activism in modern society.

When asked what will be the impetus after Civil War II that will drive your characters to form the new Champions? Mark Waid replied, without giving too much away all I can tell you is that to their mind the reputation of super heroes has taken a very public beating. They’re very intent in proving to the world that super heroes still have value and still have relevance.
