‘Reimagine I-10’ Public Meetings set to Start Wednesday

TxDOT is evaluating the I-10 corridor from the New Mexico State Line south to FM 3380. The purpose of the study is to analyze and evaluate the current and future transportation needs for the I-10 El Paso corridor.

The Reimagine I-10 feasibility study consists of three layers of study for improvement: operational, corridor-wide and technological.

Within each layer, solutions such as ramp consolidation, additional capacity and truck platooning will be considered.

TxDoT officials say, “With five U.S. and Mexico ports of entry in the study limits and with the use of I-10 as a major east/west freight corridor, the importance of this corridor is far-reaching. Furthermore, El Paso is experiencing significant growth and development, but because of its unique geographical location El Paso is limited to any alternative routing options, which ultimately puts more demand on to I-10.”

A series of open houses will serve to present project goals and objectives, as well as to solicit public input on area transportation issues and needs. The meeting will be an open house format so citizens may come and go at their convenience, and staff will be available to answer questions.

GO10 Construction Schedule for Week of June 26th

Go10 Crews expect I-10 closures to intensify for the rest of the summer in an effort to accomplish as much as they can before the school year starts again.

GO 10 restricts itself from completely closing I-10 during the daytime. GO 10 reserves complete closures of I-10 for night-time hours and occasionally for a 27-hour period on a Sunday for major operations.

There is no work scheduled Monday and Tuesday during the 4th of July holiday.

Additionally, GO 10 never conducts work on Friday nights or Saturday nights – for safety reasons.  More at go10elpaso.com.
