Attention aspiring child actors, El Paso’s KIDS-N-CO. (KNC) announces the start of a new session of acting classes this week.
Kids hit the ground running at KNC during Acting Class. Even introductions are an intro to theater with games and improvisations. After the first class, groups will be separated by age and skill level. Each group will perform a short play that highlights what they learned in class.
Via a news release, KNC organizers said, “The skills developed and explored in our classes give students the ability—and the confidence—to become creative problem-solvers, inspired communicators and innovative thinkers. These skills help them improve their school work today, excel in the job market tomorrow including possible careers in the arts, and move successfully through life.”
Vanessa Keyser, a UTEP Theater Graduate and Co-Founder of Players on the Wall & Star on the Mountain theaters, oversees the program. Classes work to build each student up to the next level based on their individual needs. Each student will be required to memorize lines and participate in every class.
Attendance is important, as at the end of the ten-week session, students will show what they learned during a showcase for parents & families.
Classes are Saturdays, 3:30 p.m.-5 p.m., March 24-June 2, on the campus of First Presbyterian Church, 1340 Murchison. Tuition is $200. Class size is limited, so participants are encouraged to register early.
