The water parks – Camp Cohen, Chapoteo, Lost Kingdom and Oasis – will open in 2020.

“Each water park will feature a unique theme offering visitors both thrilling adventures and relaxation. Water attractions range from spiraling water slides to interactive water playgrounds to inviting leisure pools,” city officials shared. “All these resort-style playgrounds will include heated pools, concessions, lounge chairs, outdoor sound systems, and spacious plazas, among other amenities.”

City of El Paso Capital Improvement Program offers sneak preview of water parks

Via a social media post, officials with the City of El Paso’s Capital Improvement Program gave residents a sneak peak of the water parks now under construction around the city.

One of the featured photos is of the much-anticipated wave rider machine that is currently under construction at the Oasis water park.

Next Summer, the City will open four Neighborhood Water Parks, which are resort-style aquatic destinations designed – as city officials share –  “to delight thrill-seekers, lap swimmers and sunbathers.”

Each water park will evoke a unique themed aesthetic inspired by community input. Water attractions will range from spiraling water slides to coasting lazy rivers to inviting leisure pools.

All facilities are currently under construction and will include: Slides, a leisure pool, a lap pool, a lazy river, climbing wall, interactive water playground, cabanas, lounge chairs, food concessions, outdoor speaker and lighting system.

City invites residents to help shape new Neighborhood Water Parks

On Tuesday, officials with the City of El Paso invited the public to chime in on the proposed operations of the four Neighborhood Water Parks opening in 2020.

“This is another great opportunity for the public to help shape their Neighborhood Water Parks. The survey allows future park goers to weigh in on the recommended hours of operations, admission fees, rental opportunities among other proposed services, which were all developed based on public feedback and research from our consultants and staff,” City Engineer Sam Rodriguez said.

Each water park will offer the community a unique water experience based on its unique theme, all inspired by the local culture and public opinion captured through an extensive outreach process.

They are all currently under construction in different regions of the community.

Lost Kingdom in Central El Paso at 6101 Hughey Circle, will have a Mayan theme. Camp Cohen in the Northeast at 9700 Gateway North (Cohen site) will feature a sports and leisure theme.

Chapoteo at 7735 Phoenix will showcase a Fiesta theme and Oasis at 13501 Jason Crandall, inspired by Hueco Tanks State Park, will capture the essence of a big backyard on the edge of a desert oasis.

Amenities at all the sites will include; slides, a lazy river, toddler pool, climbing wall, a lap pool, cabanas, concessions and much more to appeal to people of all ages.

The survey is available via this link. It follows four community meetings and three focus group meetings held earlier this year to capture public feedback on the proposed operations of the water parks.

City breaks ground for new ‘Lost Kingdom’ Water Park in Central El Paso

As cheerleaders from Burges performed, officials with the City of El Paso broke ground Thursday on the city’s newest waterpark.

City officials say the Lost Kingdom will offer the community a “unique water experience based on its Mayan getaway setting that fuels the imagination while offering exhilaration and rejuvenation to visitors.”

When complete, the park will feature an entry courtyard that echoes Mayan ruins, complete with replica ancient drawings to greet guests.

Additional Mayan touches will  be water slides themed like legendary snakes, a waterfall spilling over a rocky ravine, and a Mayan calendar painted on the bottom of the dive pool.

Waterpark amenities will include: slides, a lazy river, toddler pool, climbing wall, a lap pool, cabanas, concessions and much more to appeal to people of all ages and abilities.

The project is one of several neighborhood waterparks programmed for the community and is part of the City of El Paso’s commitment to enhance our quality of life through the creation of recreational, cultural and educational environments.

The park is located adjacent to Ross Middle school, located at  6101 Hughey Circle.
