Those interested in what it takes to sustain a career as a professional artist will hear the stories and experiences from the professionals at an event presented by Las Artistas, an El Paso-based non-profit arts organization.
The panel discussion, Making Your Mark- Steps to becoming a Professional Artist, will be held at the University of Texas at El Paso’s (UTEP) Stanlee and Gerald Rubin Center Gallery on Wednesday, September 27 from 6 pm to 8 pm.
There will be a reception immediately following the panel discussion.
Moderated by David Griffin, Chair and a professor in the UTEP Department of Art, the panel includes arts professionals representing a variety of perspectives: Dr. Victoria Ramirez, director of the El Paso Museum of Art; Pam Sullivan, a professional marketing representative and executive director of Las Artistas; Marina Monsisvais, a KTEP program host and owner of Barracuda PR, a boutique public relations agency firm in El Paso; Helen Ellison-Dorion, a local professional jewelry artisan, arts educator, and Las Artistas member; and Rachelle Thiewes, artist, arts educator, and art collector.
Sponsored by United Bank of El Paso del Norte, this panel discussion is part of the Taste of Las Artistas event series designed to support emerging and local artists and craftsmen in the greater El Paso area.
UTEP’s Rubin Center Gallery is located at 500 West University Avenue in El Paso and parking is available in the lot in front of Rubin Center building (P-5 Lot or in the Parking Garage).
