Video: TNTM ‘SpiderMan Far From Home’ review & reaction at Alamo Drafthouse

Spider-man Far From Home is the much anticipated sequel to Homecoming. This is the first Marvel Cinematic Universe movie since Avengers Endgame tied up the past decade in a pretty little bow. Far From Home did not disappoint.

It was a bit of a different take on the character of Mysterio, but we can live with that. Gyllenhaal did a fantastic job of bringing Mysterio to life.

Tom Holland was great as Peter Parker again. He plays the naive, wet behind the ears young Peter Parker to a tee.

You don’t have to take our word for it. The audience overwhelmingly enjoyed the movie. Just watch the video and see for yourselves.

We have also added a Google Voice number where you can call and leave us your thoughts. If they are good, we will use them on the show. The number is (575) 323-1332.

Vlog+Story: Talk Nerdy to Me for the week of June 22, 2019

We’re back with another episode of Talk Nerdy to Me. We discuss the pop culture happenings for the week. This week was a bit of a slow week for Nerdy News, but there are a coupla things that happened.

The new Men In Black International movie is not doing well at the box office. They just can’t quite replicate the chemistry that Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith have together.

Marvel is releasing a new version of Avengers End Game with deleted footage and more after credits. Seems like a blatant attempt to dethrone Avatar from highest grossing movie.

More Keanu news. Marvel is in talks to have Keanu in one of their movies. He is the hottest thing in media right now so it is a good move. They need to think very carefully about what character he will be. If they choose the right character for him, it will be iconic. What character would you have Keanu Reeves portray in the MCU?

We have also added a Google Voice number where you can call and leave us your thoughts. If they are good, we will use them on the show. The number is (575) 323-1332.

Video+Story: Captain Marvel review, audience reaction at Alamo Drafthouse

Fans of Marvel Comics MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) have been waiting for this Captain Marvel movie ever since the end credits of Avengers: Infinity War. When Nick Fury pulled out that paging device that displayed Captain Marvel’s symbol the internet went crazy with fan theories.

Fan theories and speculation are what helps ease the anticipation until the next movie, so that is not a bad thing.

There was a lot of hype building up to Captain Marvel. The MCU had been taking heat for it’s lack of screen time for it’s female characters. DC proved there is enough demand for a strong female lead character when Wonder Woman did so well at the box office. Some backlash about Brie Larson’s comments caused a huge online down-vote campaign against the movie. The audience rating on Rotten Tomato and the User rating on IMDB were both very low before the movie had even aired at one theater.

Thankfully the movie going audience actually showed up to watch the highly anticipated film. Captain Marvel pulled in $20.7M on Thursday preview night, $62M Friday and is on pace for a $160M opening weekend. That is good enough to put it third for the month of March after Beauty and the Beast ($174.7M) and Batman v. Superman ($166M).

Patrick and I really enjoyed Captain Marvel. There are lots of little references and cameos sprinkled throughout the movie. The most heartfelt is what is likely the last time Stan Lee will make his famous cameo. There is also a very touching homage to Stan Lee at the beginning of the movie. It is a nice gesture to thank the man who was without question the ambassador for comic books, regardless of the publisher.

You don’t need to take our word for how good the movie is. We asked members of the audience their thoughts on Captain Marvel. Everyone we talked to both on and off camera gave praise to the newest entry into the MCU.

We are predicting a surge in Captain Marvel costumes at comic cons and especially during Halloween this year! If you haven’t seen Captain Marvel yet, we highly recommend it. If you have watched it, let us know what your favorite part of the movie is in the comments.

Video+Story: Chris Evans Retiring as Captain America

It looks like Chris Evans is hanging up the shield for good and will be leaving his role as Captain America after Avengers 4. He has portrayed this iconic Marvel Comics character for 10 films.

Ever since the first Captain America film in 2011, Chris Evans has been synonymous with the character. He will leave big shoes to fill.

The speculation on him leaving the role stems from a tweet he made.

“Officially wrapped on Avengers 4. It was an emotional day to say the least. Playing this role over the last 8 years has been an honor. To everyone in front of the camera, behind the camera, and in the audience, thank you for the memories! Eternally grateful. ”

It looks like he is ready to move on to other roles. His portrayal of Cap was spot-on. He not only had the appearance, but the mannerisms and demeanor. His tweet was heartfelt and appreciative.

We hope Chris Evans has a long and successful career. He will always be Steve Rogers in our eyes.

Video+Story: TNTM Talks Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies

Marvel used their movies to build up to the big confrontation in Avengers Infinity War. They teased Thanos here and there throughout their other movies so that when he made his big appearance in Infinity War, most people already knew all about him and what a big threat he is.

We are hoping that Marvel starts building up to another of their epic stories after the Thanos situation is resolved in Avengers Infinity War part 2. They have plenty of great line wide story arcs that would translate nicely to the big screen.

Another thing we are hoping for is to start seeing more crossover between the movies and TV shows. Cross your fingers!
