DJ Pauly D to Headline Minerpalooza 2018

Paul “DJ Pauly D” DelVecchio, a cast member of MTV’s hit reality show “Jersey Shore” from 2009 to 2012, will headline this year’s Minerpalooza.

Also on the bill are singer Drake Bell, best known for his starring roles on Nickeldoen’s “The Amanda Show” and “Drake & Josh,” DJ Orange Calderon and local rockers Volta.

“Minerpalooza 2018 features an entertainment lineup full of star power, and we are certain it will bring the biggest crowds in the history of this event,” said Jorge Vazquez, executive director of UTEP Special Events.

UTEP officials expect a crowd of between 25,000 to 30,000.

Pauly D holds a DJ residency in Las Vegas at Drai’s and an Atlantic City DJ residency at The Pool After Dark at Harrah’s Resort. He has previously held residencies in Las Vegas at The Palms Casino Resort and at ARIA Resort and Casino.

He has been named on Forbes Magazine’s World’s Highest Paid DJs list for two consecutive years, ranking him among some of the world’s most respected and distinguished DJs.

DJ Pauly D will also be part of MTV’s “Jersey Shore Family Vacation” schedule to debut on Aug. 23, featuring the original “Jersey Shore” cast.

Bell, who is in the middle of his pop rock tour, will play a high energy special acoustic performance at Minerpalooza.

DJ Orange Calderon has opened for megastar artists including Skrillex and Outkast.

In December 2016, the DJ from Houston became the first woman to win McDonald’s x Complex’s annual ‘Flavor Battle’ DJ Tournament, a national competition in the DJ field.

The opening act will be local Spanish rock band Volta. Formed in 2015, Volta has established itself as a borderland mainstay performing at various locations and events across the region, including the annual Neon Desert Music Festival in 2017.

The band has shared the stage with artists such as Julieta Venegas, Belinda, Paty Cantu, and Jenny and the Mexicats.

“Minerpalooza is UTEP’s most highly anticipated tradition and this year; it’s bigger and better than ever,” said Nicole Aguilar, the director of UTEP’s Student Engagement and Leadership Center. “Serving as the official kickoff to the new year, this event brings students, faculty, staff, alumni and the greater El Paso community together for a night of fun and memories.”

This will be the 28th year of Minerpalooza, which will feature eight food trucks, an inflatable zip line, a climbing wall and other attractions, and Pete’s Playground, a dedicated children’s play area.

Adult activities include a beer and wine garden and attractions from some of the event sponsors.

Admisssion is free and open to the public.
