8 Native El Paso chefs return home for ‘Family Meal’ benefit dinner

This Thursday evening, eight chefs will return home to El Paso to host a special collaborative benefit dinner called Family Meal at Ardovino’s Desert Crossing

Proceeds from ticket sales will go to the Annunciation House, supporting their efforts to provide shelter, food, and comfort to migrant families.

“Family meal is an important part of the day for restaurants. It is a way to bond with your family away from home. This benefit dinner, in turn, is meant to transform that experience and help our extended migrant families. El Paso is one part of a large international and bi-national metropolis encompassing Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, and Las Cruces, New Mexico. What affects one family affects all,” says Mixtli Chef Rico Torres.

Confirmed chefs include: Alan Delgado and Gabe Erales, Comedor (Austin, TX); Andre Natera, Fairmont Austin (Austin, TX); Danny Calleros, Ardovino’s Desert Crossing (Sunland Park, NM); Fermín Núñez, Suerte (Austin, TX); Jake Rojos, Tallulah’s Taqueria (Providence, RI); Omar Flores, Whistle Britches & Muchacho (Dallas, TX), and Rico Torres, Mixtli (San Antonio, TX). Additionally, Jim Ward, of Sleepercar and Sparta, will play a private post-dinner show.

The idea behind the evening is to expose local talent—chefs, artists, and musicians—while bringing El Paso natives together for an evening of cooking and camaraderie, all supporting a good cause.

Chef Torres adds, “Family Meal will raise money to support Annunciation House in their efforts to provide shelter, food, and comfort to migrant families in this very difficult time of their lives. Native El Paso chefs will return for a night of camaraderie and live-fire cooking under the scenic landscapes at Ardovino’s Desert Crossing with views of all three cities.”

The event will be held at Ardovino’s Desert Crossing (1 Ardovinos Dr, Sunland Park, NM 88063), and tickets are available online.

Tickets for Family Meal are $225 per person and will include 7-courses along with passed appetizers and wine pairings.
