El Paso Public Library Celebrates National Library Week

The El Paso Public Library invites everyone to visit any library branch for National Library week, which runs through April 15.

First sponsored in 1958, National Library Week, sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA), is observed in libraries across the nation each April. It is a time to celebrate the contributions of our nation’s libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support.

Libraries not only provide reading and learning materials for people of all ages, they also create learning spaces, developmental activities for children, educational enhancement opportunities for adults, quiet reading areas, entertainment options for families at no cost and many other services.

El Paso Public Library has 12 branches and two bookmobiles that travel throughout the community bringing library services to areas of El Paso that do not have easy access to libraries.

The public library also offers free computer training, GED classes and testing, high school curriculum for learners 19 and up, ESL and citizenship preparation and passport services. The public library also offers downloadable materials such as eBooks, audio books, eMagazines, music and video. The library also offers many free family programs, story-times, concerts and movies just about every day.
