Video+Story: TNTM’s Phoenix Fan Fusion review

Phoenix Fan Fusion 2019 was a great event in our eyes. The only bad that we saw was getting entry into the event. Ever since they caught a crazy guy trying to get in with weapons to injure one of the featured guests, security has been a nightmare.

They have been trying different things to make getting into the event a much quicker and smoother process while still maintaining safety to the best of their abilities.

Some people had to wait a looonnggg time to get in. This makes those attendees a bit testy and frustrated. Lucky the weather cooperated and it wasn’t as hot as the surface of the sun outside like in past years. Other than that, everything was good for us.

The featured guest line up was great. The vendors were awesome. The Hall of Heroes was phenomenal. Phoenix is one of our favorite cons to attend. Can’t wait to see how they tackle the issue of getting the crowds of attendees into the event quicker and more efficiently next year.

We have also added a Google Voice number where you can call and leave us your thoughts.  If they are good, we will use them on the show.  The number is (575) 323-1332.

Video: Phoenix Fan Fusion 2019 preview

Phoenix Fan Fusion is one of our favorite big comic cons to attend. They are considered one of the big 6 comic cons, even with the slight decrease in attendance last year.

Just like the mythical Phoenix, they are rising anew from the ashes of last year. They have a new name now… Phoenix Fan Fusion! They have also stacked their featured guest line up with some pretty impressive names. Jeff Goldblum, Paul Reubens, John Barrowman, George Takei, Elijah Wood, and Billy Dee Williams just to name a few.

Those featured guests will be up on the third floor in the Hall of Heroes. While you are fanboying/fangirling over your favorite guest you can also check out all the fan clubs/cosplay groups there. Star Wars always has a big corner with the 501st, Rebel Legion, R2 Builders Club, and the Mandalorian Mercs all joining together for an unforgettable experience. There will be fan clubs for Judge Dredd, Firefly (Browncoats), Doctor Who, and so many more. You can spend an entire day ( and a load of money) on the third floor.

If panels are your thing, you will find more than you can possibly attend. Most panels take place on the second floor. You name the topic and I’m sure they have a panel for it.

The ground floor is gonna be taken up mostly with food vendors and a few stray panel rooms.

The exhibit hall is down one floor. The convention center is separated on the ground floor by a street, but it is connected underground. The exhibit hall is enormous. You can spend the better part of a day just shopping.

in the lobby area underground there is always some interesting interactive stuff set up. Make sure to look around there before you run into the exhibit hall.

Las year they had a beer garden/food truck area set up on the street between the two convention center sides. That was really a nice perk last year. Being able to step outside under cover of a tent and grab a beer and maybe some tacos was nice.

More and more of the businesses and hotels surrounding the event area are starting to participate in the festivities as well. There will be tons of con specials and off site events.

Best thing is, tickets are readily available. You can get a full event pass for around $85, which is a huge bargain.

If you plan on cosplaying, please read their rules regarding what can and can’t be brought into the convention center. Security of the guests and attendees are very important.

You can find us probably in one of the autograph or photo op lines. If you see us, come talk to us. We’d love to hear from you.

We have also added a Google Voice number where you can call and leave us your thoughts.  If they are good, we will use them on the show.  The number is (575) 323-1332.

CHECK OUT THE GUYS THAT MAKE US LOOK GOOD

Pee Wee Herman is Penguin’s Dad on Gotham

Paul Reubens aka Pee Wee Herman is Penguin’s Dad on Gotham

Gotham is of course located in Gotham city. It is centered around the life of a younger Jim Gordon before he became commissioner. Bruce Wayne is in his teens, still in school, and has not become Batman yet.

You are introduced to many of the characters that will become villains in the future. Paul Reubens of Pee Wee Herman fame will be reprising his role as Penguins father from the movies.

Gotham is an American crime-drama television series developed by Bruno Heller. It is based on characters appearing in and published by DC Comics in the Batman franchise. The primary characters are James Gordon and Bruce Wayne.

The series stars Ben McKenzie as the young Gordon. As originally conceived the series would have served as a straightforward story of Gordon’s early days on the Gotham City Police Department. The idea evolved not only to include the Wayne character, but also to tell the origin stories of several Batman villains including the Penguin, the Riddler, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Two-Face, the Scarecrow Mr. Freeze, Hugo Strange, and the Joker

A new recruit in the Gotham City Police Department named James Gordon is paired with veteran detective Harvey Bullock to solve one of Gotham City’s highest-profile cases. The murders of Thomas and Martha Wayne.

During his investigation, Gordon meets the Waynes’ son Bruce who is now in the care of his butler Alfred Pennyworth. Meeting the younger Wayne further compels Gordon to catch the mysterious killer.

Along the way, Gordon becomes involved with Gotham’s Mafia families and associates including gangster Fish Mooney, Don Carmine Falcone, and Don Salvatore Maroni. Eventually Gordon is forced to form an unlikely friendship with Bruce. This relationship will help shape the boy’s future in becoming Batman.

In the second season, Gordon deals with the criminal activities that are secretly orchestrated by Theo Galavan and his sister Tabitha. Their scheme is part of a plot to run Gotham City and get revenge on the Wayne Family by targeting Bruce Wayne.

In the early days of Gotham City Celestine Wayne, one of the most sought after debutantes, was promised to a scion of the Elliott family. She was in love with someone else, Caleb Dumas.

One night the Wayne men found her with Dumas. Afraid, Celestine lied and told them that Caleb had forced himself on her. Celestine’s brother, Jonathan Wayne, then used an ornate knife to sever Caleb’s right hand.

This led to the Dumas family’s ostracism and financial ruin by the powerful Wayne family. Many members of the Dumas family fled to Europe to seek haven within a religious sect formed by their family’s patron saint. The religious sect was known as the Order of Saint Dumas.

Those of the Dumas family who remained in Gotham changed their surname to Galavan, thus Theo and Tabitha are Dumas descendants. Theo concocted a convoluted revenge plot he believes will redeem his family’s name.
