The City of El Paso invites the public to a second community meeting to share their input on design work for the Sun City Lights Project featuring El Paso Street, one of El Paso’s iconic corridors.
At this meeting, the public will be able to vote on crosswalk and parklet design concepts. At the first meeting held last month, the public voted on archway design concepts, blade signage icons and verbiage for both north and south archways.
El Paso Street between the Paso del Norte international bridge and the Plaza Theater is known as the Paseo de las Luces and it serves as the gateway into El Paso from Juárez.
The Paseo de las Luces project includes a signature archway, tree lights, string lights draping the street, improved parking, stalls reserved for food trucks, and parklets – sidewalk extensions that create vibrant public gathering spaces.
The Sun City Lights initiative aims to define and highlight entrances to the City’s iconic corridors and neighborhoods to create new economic development opportunities by combining public art, urban design, and neighborhood revitalization strategies.
