Video: Netflix Marvel Cinematic Universe

Netflix has done a bang-up job bringing the Marvel characters to prominence on their streaming service. They took some of the lower tier characters and made them household names.

It all started with Daredevil. Daredevil on Netflix was absolutely amazing. That series opened the door for all the follow-ons. Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Punisher, and the big team up of Defenders.

Even the lowest rated of the Netflix Marvel series are better than a lot of the movies. Still haven’t watched all of Iron Fist season 2 yet, but it is on the list. I actually enjoyed Iron Fist season 1 so this season should be a marked improvement.

Video+Story: Netflix Daredevil Season 3 Discussion

Daredevil season 1 on Netflix is the series that started the wildfire of Netflix Marvel superhero series. The popularity of Daredevil made it possible for Netflix to produce series for Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, The Punisher, and the team-up series The Defenders.

Daredevil season 2 improved on what we saw in the first season. The fight choreography was phenomenal and the story gave us more depth into Matt’s past. The Hand and Elektra were introduced and clearly defined. We were also introduced to fan favorite character The Punisher.

Season 3 promises to be even more epic. Kingpin is back and the Hand is still around. Hopefully we will see some cameos from the other Netflix series characters. I’d like to see this be the push for a second season of The Defenders.

If you haven’t watched any of the Netflix Marvel series, you have time to catch up on all of them. Watch all the individual season 1’s before watching The Defenders so you have a back story for all the team members.

Video+Story – TNTM: Marvel Cosmic Ghost Rider series

Marvel introduced a new character in Thanos #16, the Cosmic Ghost Rider. It is revealed later in that issue that the Cosmic Ghost Rider is none other than… Frank Castle (Punisher). If that isn’t twisted enough for you, the story of how he became the right hand of Thanos is very warped.

Thanos came to Earth and is in the midst of easily defeating all the heroes. During this battle, Frank thinks “I would give anything to punish that purple sonofabitch.” The old saying “Be careful what you wish for” applies here as Mephisto heard this thought.

Mephisto makes Frank his newest Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance. There is one small problem though. Thanos left no survivors. There is no one to punish or even talk to. Cosmic Ghost Rider is left with his own thoughts causing him to lose a bit of his sanity.

After a millennia passes, Galactus appears on Earth in rough shape and on the run from Thanos. Since Cosmic Ghost Rider wants revenge on Thanos himself, he agrees to become a herald of Galactus. He is granted the power cosmic from Galactus.

The pair hunt down Thanos only to have him behead Galactus and easily defeat Cosmic Ghost Rider. Thanos sees something in Cosmic Ghost Rider and offers for him to be his right hand man. Cosmic Ghost Rider will be able to punish countless people across the cosmos.

Cosmic Ghost Rider is such a popular character he is getting his own mini-series (5 issues) with the first one hitting shelves July 4, 2018. The series will be written by Donny Cates with interior art by Dylan Burnett and cover art by Geoff Shaw. This series promises to be very interesting.

What do you think about Cosmic Ghost Rider? Let us know in the comments.

TNTM: Punisher on Netflix discussion

If you’ve been paying attention to Netflix you had to notice they are betting heavily on Marvel Comics characters. So far We have seen 2 Daredevil series, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and Defenders. Now Netflix is promising to have The Punisher series on Netflix before the end of the year.

The Punisher, a.k.a Francis “Frank” Castle, is a Marvel Comics character created by writer Gerry Conway and artists John Romita Sr. and Ross Andru. The Punisher made his first appearance in The Amazing Spider-Man #129.

The Punisher is a vigilante who employs all manner of brutality to get get crime off the street. He started his crusade against crime after his wife and two children were killed by the mob for witnessing a killing in New York City’s Central Park. Frank used his military training as a United States Marine Corps Scout Sniper to systematically and efficiently take out criminals. There is no grey area with the Punisher. You are either good or bad. If you’re bad, he usually ends up killing you.

The Punisher typically works alone. He does have a few select people that help him fight crime. Microchip assists him by building and supplying weapons and technology. Some police officers/detectives have been known to help when they can. Lynn Michaels was a police officer who teamed up with Punisher to take down a serial rapist and later quit the force to become a vigilante. Lt. Martin Soap was secretly allied with the Punisher and gave him information on his targets from the police database.

Jon Bernthal will be reprising his role as Punisher (from Daredevil season 2). For many this was a highlight to the whole season. Daredevil season 2 was the Netflix audience’s introduction to the character. If the writing for the Punisher series is as good as the writing for his character in the Daredevil series, Netflix will have another hit on their hands.

TNTM: Marvel Comics Deadpool vs Punisher

By now everyone knows who Deadpool is due to the success of his movie. Even the most non-nerdy people have at least heard the name and know he is a quirky comic book character. Judging by the box office, Wade Wilson is a very popular guy.

Thanks to Daredevil season 2 on Netflix, the Punisher is now a very well known character. His penchant for dispensing of evil people has been a standard in all his comic appearances.

The Deadpool vs Punisher title promises to be the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup of the comic book world… two great tastes that go great together. What we don’t understand is why did it take so long to put these guys together?

The plot

deadpool-vs-punisher-coverThe Punisher (Frank Castle) discovers a character known as the Bank. The Bank is the accountant to most of the high level criminals in the Marvel Universe. He is the one that sets up off shore accounts and other schemes to keep their money safe from being seized by the government. That makes him a bad guy in the Punisher’s eyes. True to character, he sets out to neutralize the Bank.

One small obstacle in the Punisher’s path is Deadpool. The Bank just happens to be a very old friend of Deadpool’s from before he was in the Weapon X program. Deadpool is very loyal to his friends and really doesn’t want to see the Punisher kill the Bank.

This is slated to be a 5 issue limited series. Who do you think will come out on top in this battle? Give us your ideas on this in the comments section below.

TNTM: Doctor Strange / Punisher Magic Bullets

Magic Bullets teams up Doctor Strange and the Punisher

You would be hard pressed to find 2 Marvel Comics characters that are farther apart from each other in every aspect than Doctor Strange and the Punisher.  It only makes sense for them to appear together in a crossover mini-series.

Frank Castle encounters a new kind of mafia threat.  These new players in the organized crime game are using magic to get the upper hand.  The mystical mafia is out of the Punisher’s expertise so he enlists the help of the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Strange.  Will the Punisher start using a little magic? Will Doctor Strange adapt Frank Castle’s kill ’em all, let God sort them out way of thinking?

This isn’t the first time Doctor Strange and the Punisher have worked together.  Back in 2014 the Original Sin story-line saw Doctor Strange possess the Punisher’s body as the Marvel Universe was investigating the death of Uatu the Watcher.  Magic Bullets appears to be much more of a ground level affair.  The premise is the Punisher recruits Doctor Strange to help him with a mob powered by magic putting the Doctor’s Hippocratic Oath to the test.

Netflix Daredevil with Punisher & Elektra

Daredevil on Netflix to have Punisher and Elektra

Jack and Troy from ZiaComics.com geek out about the new season of Daredevil on Netflix.

This is the first in a planned series of shows detailing the Marvel universe. “Daredevil” follows Matt Murdock.  He is an attorney by day and vigilante by night.

Matt was blinded in an accident as a child. He uses his heightened senses as Daredevil to fight crime on the streets of New York after the sun goes down.

His efforts are not welcomed by powerful businessman Wilson Fisk, aka Kingpin. Murdock’s day job portrays a man who believes in the criminal justice system. His alter ego suggests otherwise. He takes the law into his own hands to protect his Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood and the surrounding communities.

The origin story relates that while living in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of New York City, Matt Murdock is blinded by a radioactive substance that falls from an oncoming vehicle while pushing a man to safety from the oncoming truck. While he can no longer see, the radioactive exposure heightens his remaining senses beyond normal human ability and gives him a “radar sense”.

His father, a boxer named Jack Murdock, supports him as he grows up. Jack is later killed by gangsters after refusing to throw a fight. After donning a yellow and dark red costume (later all dark red), Matt seeks out revenge against his father’s killers as the superhero Daredevil. He fights against his many enemies including Bullseye and Kingpin. He also becomes a lawyer. Daredevil’s nickname is “the Man Without Fear”.

Daredevil has been home to the work of comic-book artists such as Everett, Kirby, Wally Wood, John Romita Sr., and Gene Colan, among others. Frank Miller had an influential tenure on the title in the early 1980s and cemented the character as a popular and influential part of the Marvel Universe. Daredevil has since appeared in various forms of media including several animated series, video games and merchandise, and a feature-length film where he was portrayed by Ben Affleck. Charlie Cox plays the title character in Marvel’s Daredevil on Netflix that premiered on April 10, 2015.

Li’l Deadpool Diary Adventure Parody

Knock, Knock, Bang

Who’s this long faced fellow? Frank, Frank Castle. He’s a Pisces, who probably murdered his other personality.

Not gonna lie I wish I could do that, but not even I have that many bullets. Any-whoozer, this guy has issues, and that’s coming from me.

I thought I killed a lot of people, which I have and looked damn good doing it too.

But Frank here, he’s a true artist. Also, don’t call him an artist, or scream like a teenage beleiber when you see him, or ask him for an autograph on your perfectly sculpted rump. He might just shoot you in the face, and by might I mean he will definitely shoot you in the face.

Deadpool PunisherWhat’s even worse? I needed the bathroom, like real bad. To tell you the truth I was going to upper decker him. Look it up.

But since he shot me, I kinda upper decked my suit. Time to go to the laundromat.

Deadpool Punisher 2

I just hope people don’t look at me funny, I like to let the dogs out to run, ya know? When people meet me in the eye while I’m doing yoga in the aisle, it really sets me off.

See ya, readers!
