Illustrator Raul Gonzalez, winner of the 2017 The Pura Belpré Award for his book “Low Riders in Space,” has returned to celebrate his accomplishment with his home town, El Paso.
The free, family-friendly event will be on Sunday August 6th, 2017 from 11 A.M. to 2 P.M at TI:ME Montecillo located at 4935 North Mesa.
Raul Gonzalez, aka Raul the Third, is an El Paso native who shows the love for his hometown through his artwork. Raul grew up on the border and now resides in in Boston but still has profound love for the sister cities.
According to the news release, “Something that he loves to do while in town is to walk around Downtown El Paso all the way to the bridge and walking on over to Juarez, maybe even pay a visit to the Mercado Cuauhtemoc.”
Raul’s art speaks for his love of his hometown, a place he calls unique, safe, and full of culture. Raul believes that El Paso is the city of the future.
