The City of El Paso’s Capital Improvement Department will begin the reconstruction of Robinson Avenue the week of August 8th, 2016.
This project encompasses the full reconstruction of Robinson Avenue between Piedmont Drive and Rim Road in concrete, and will include new upgrades to existing drainage. As part of the project, new hike and bike trails will be constructed, and new landscaping, irrigation, illumination, ADA compliant sidewalks and curbs will be added to area.
To minimize the inconvenience to residents and traffic, the closures of the area will occur in the following four phases with the first phase starting the week of August 8, 2016:
Full roadway closure of Robinson Avenue from Piedmont Drive to Sierra Crest Drive
Full roadway closure of Robinson Avenue from Sierra Crest Drive to center to Canyon Terrace Drive
Full roadway closure of Robinson Avenue from Canyon Terrace Drive to Kingery Drive
Full roadway closure of Robinson Avenue from Kingery Drive to Rim Road/Scenic Drive
Proper traffic control measures will be in place throughout the duration of the project, and access for residents and property owners will be maintained at all times. The project is scheduled for completion in the summer of 2017, and the work schedule and closures may be modified to accommodate any unforeseen weather conditions or events.
The reconstruction of the Robinson Avenue is a $2.25 million project, which is part of the City of El Paso’s commitment to enhance El Paso regional comprehensive transportation system.
