Animal Services Receives Rachael Ray ‘Save Them All Grant’ to Offer No-Cost Spay/Neuters

El Paso Animal Services announced Wednesday that the department has received a Rachael Ray ‘Save Them All’ grant from national animal welfare organization Best Friends Animal Society to conduct targeted spay/neuter surgeries, helping to reduce the number of animals entering the Animal Services Shelter.

Animal Services officials say they are “an active partner in the Best Friends Network, which offers help and support to animal rescue groups and shelters that save lives in their communities. Best Friends has lifesaving programs in partnership with more than 1,600 rescue groups and shelters across the country.”

Animal Services’ goal is to perform 400 spay/neuter operations over the next several months. The services will be provided to residents that live in the 79907, 79915, 79924, and 79927 zip codes.

These areas were selected due to the high number of animals that enter the shelter each year from these specific zip codes.  A valid I.D. or a current utility bill is required to show proof of residence.

Residents from other zip codes may also qualify for the services but must show proof of government assistance (ex. Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, Social Security, WIC, CHIP, TANF, etc.).

To sign up for the services, residents will need to visit the Animal Services Shelter between 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. at 5001 Fred Wilson.

Once signed up, Animal Services will schedule animals for their surgery that will take place at Animal Services’ Socorro Spay/Neuter Clinic.
