This week, Socorro Independent School District high school students, and their parents, are invited to SISD’s Preparing for College Forum
“High school students don’t want to miss out on this opportunity to get the information they need to make college a reality,” said Myra Ortega, guidance and counseling coordinator. “We encourage parents to go so they can be informed on the college process. Collaboration with parents is vital for the post-secondary success of each student.”
The forum will be held August 23 in the District Service Center Board Room, 12440 Rojas Drive, from 6 to 8 p.m.
The forum will be led by the nationally recognized counseling department from Montwood High School. Students will learn how to apply for college and financial aid. They also will receive tips on writing effective college admission essays and building their academic resume.
In addition, SISD counselors will be present to offer advice on how to prepare for college interviews.
For more information, students should contact their school counselor or the Department of Guidance and Counseling at 937-0322.
The next college forum will be January 24, 2019. SISD also will have a Military Collegiate Forum on February 28, 2019.
