One of Team SISD’s most popular events, the 32nd Annual SISD Spring Games, returns April 4 to the Student Activities Complex.
More than 800 students with special needs are expected to participate in track and field events, such as 10- and 25-meter walks, assisted walks and 25, 50, 100, 200 and 400-meter runs.
Other events include relay and wheelchair races with and without assistance.
Hundreds of parents, families, teachers, students and community members are expected to attend the games to cheer on the student-athletes in the games.
Elementary students will compete from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and secondary athletes (middle and high school) will have their contest from 2 to 5 p.m.
Both sessions will begin with a mini parade that will include athletes, SISD administrators, teachers, staff and more than 200 volunteers.
Since being endorsed by Special Olympics Texas four years ago, the Spring Games are a local SOTX competition with our students being SOTX Athletes in Training. They will have opportunities to compete city and statewide.
