El Paso Community Foundation’s ‘Spirit of Giving’ Returns for 30th Year

The El Paso Community Foundation’s Spirit of Giving campaign returns for its 30th year with plenty of places, physical and digital, where you can help someone who might otherwise go without this holiday.

Spirit of Giving trees are located at Cielo Vista Mall, Sunland Park Mall, and five GECU/GECU Investment & Trust Services locations — Viscount and Airway; Rojas and Zaragoza; Vista del Sol and Yarbrough; Transmountain and Dyer; and Resler and Helen of Troy.

The trees are adorned with snowflake tags that represent the stories of people — children, elderly, and disabled — in need. All residents need to do is pick a tag, buy a gift, wrap it with the tag, and return it to the Spirit of Giving location where it was purchased.

More than 57,000 gifts have been given through this uniquely El Paso effort, which started in 1989.

The drop-off deadlines are:

  • GECU/GECU Investment & Trust Services locations — Friday, December 7
  • Cielo Vista Mall — Wednesday, December 19
  • Sunland Park Mall — Thursday, December 20

Donors also can go to the virtual tree, click the tag of the story that moves you and pay for the gift. The El Paso Community Foundation will ensure that it is delivered. Or print the tag, purchase the gift, wrap it and deliver it, with the tag, to their offices at 333 North Oregon Street on the 2nd Floor.

Office hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. The deadline to drop off gifts to our office is Monday, December 17.

The El Paso Community Foundation’s Spirit of Giving is sponsored by Cielo Vista Mall/Simon Malls, Sunland Park Mall, GECU/GECU Investment & Trust Services, KTSM 9 and iHeartRadio of El Paso.

El Paso Community Foundation’s 28th Annual Spirit of Giving Campaign Underway

The El Paso Community Foundation’s 28th annual Spirit of Giving campaign is branching out all over town — at Cielo Vista Mall, Sunland Park Mall and five GECU/Members Trust Company locations — and online.

The El Paso Community Foundation’s virtual Spirit of Giving tree is an easy and anonymous way to give a gift to someone who really needs it.

The trees are adorned with tags that represent the stories of people — children, elderly, and disabled — in need.

Residents can pick a tag, buy a gift, wrap it with the tag, and return it to the location where you purchased it. Drop-off deadline is December 16 at all locations except Sunland Park Mall, which is December 21. If donating on line, the process is easy – simply click the tag of the story that moves them and pay for the gift.

The El Paso Community Foundation will ensure that it is delivered.

More than 53,000 gifts have been distributed since 1989, when the El Paso Community Foundation joined with nonprofits, malls, churches and local media to help those in need at Christmas.

Interested community members also can print the tag, purchase the gift, wrap it and deliver it, with the tag, to 333 N. Oregon St. on the 2nd Floor. Office hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Mondays through Friday.

The drop-off deadline for gifts is Monday, December 19.

Spirit of Giving trees are located at Cielo Vista Mall, Sunland Park Mall, and five GECU/Members Trust Company locations: Viscount and Airway; Rojas and Zaragoza; Vista del Sol and Yarbrough; Transmountain and Dyer; and Resler and Helen of Troy.
