On Sunday, several groups around the Sun City announced their intention to honor the victims of the Tree of Life Synagogue shooting with a vigil on Monday evening.

Via social media, the El Paso Holocaust Museum and Study Center shared an event post entitled  El Pasoans Against Hate: Vigil for Pittsburgh Victims.

According to the post, Chabad of El Paso, Congregation B’Nai Zion, El Paso Holocaust Museum, the Jewish Federation of Greater El Paso, and Temple Mount Sinai, along with the Interfaith Community, many other community organizations from across the city will be participating.

The vigil is scheduled for Monday, October 29, 5:30pm in Downtown El Paso, at San Jacinto Plaza.

Additionally, the Jewish Federation of El Paso is accepting donations which will benefit and victims’ families, as well as survivors.

Officials posted the following:

“We as a community condemn such horrific antisemitic events and are unified in our grief at the tremendous loss of eleven innocent lives and the terror and tragedy committed against the Jewish community as a whole. Together, as one community and as one people, this vigil will demonstrate a shared commitment to stand against hate, of all kinds and against all people.”

“Please join us in honoring those affected by this violent, hateful act and to stand together in a unified outcry against hatred and violence of any kind committed against any people.”
