Gallery+Story: TopGolf El Paso Opens, Bringing Golfing Fun, 500 Jobs to Area

El Pasoans will have one more entertainment option as of Friday morning, as the long-awaited Topgolf  is scheduled to open Friday morning.

After much anticipation from those who have visited one of these driving ranges in “big cities,” to those that are simply curious to what that monstrous building jutting out from the hills just west of the Montecillo area, El Paso’s TopGolf is the 41st facility to open worldwide for the company from England.

A cost of $15 million dollars, the three level, 65,000-square-foot venue comes equipped with all the latest bells and whistles that TopGolf has to offer.

Prices range from $25-$45 per hour to rent one of the 102 climate controlled hitting bays. Up to 6 people can play per participate in the variety of games that TopGolf’s scoring system has to offer.

Never picked up a golf club in your life? Need not worry. Marketing director for TopGolf El Paso, Sam Horstman commented, “TopGolf is a great venue for people of all ages regardless of your skill set.”

The location will also have a company-wide ‘first,’ as of February 5th, El Paso’s TopGolf will be the company’s first driving range that will take reservations online.

For those worried about the “grand opening rush”, you will be able to dismiss it a little bit more as TopGolf will offer you complimentary pool, shuffleboard and fooseball during all operating hours.  Additionally, Topgolf U lessons start at $29 and can be booked online.

“We are focused on creating great times for all of our guests and cannot wait to welcome the local community for an unforgettable experience,” said Topgolf El Paso Director of Operations Chilo Mendoza.

Officials add that 500 full- and part-time associates have been hired in advance of the opening.

TopGolf’s arrival to the 915 area code and its regional neighbors is primed and ready to lay down the ultimate challenge of having its residents respond to a world class entertainment facility in the world’s largest Borderland.

If it succeeds, it will take a huge bite out of El Paso’s inferiority complex. The question remains, will El Pasoans support it and transcend or make another excuse to allow it to fail???
