The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is inviting residents to participate in a public meeting regarding the proposed improvements to US54 in Northeast El Paso, better known as the Patriot Freeway.
The meeting will be held on September 27, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the El Paso Community College – Transmountain Campus Forum Theater Foyer located at 9570 Gateway Boulevard North. The purpose of the public meeting is to present the proposed project to the interested public.
The proposed project would consist of the addition of two main lanes (one in each direction) on US 54 (Patriot Freeway) from Hondo Pass Drive to Loop 375 (Woodrow Bean/Transmountain Road), a distance of approximately three miles.
The proposed project also includes the reversal of the on/off ramps in both the northbound and southbound directions within the project limits, intersection improvements at three locations (Hondo Pass Drive, Diana Drive, and Loop 375 (Woodrow Bean/Transmountain Road), and bicycle/pedestrian improvements.
No additional right-of-way or temporary and/or permanent easements would be needed.
The meeting will be held in an open house format with no formal presentation.
TxDOT representatives and the project team will be available to answer questions about the proposed project. The public will have the opportunity to learn more about and comment on the project need, purpose, and identified environmental constraints.
Maps showing the proposed project’s location and geometric design will be available for viewing at the meeting. This information will also be available for public inspection at the TxDOT El Paso District Office located at 13301 Gateway Boulevard West.
