El Paso Pro-Musica to Celebrate UTEP’s Center for Arts Entrepreneurship

El Paso Pro-Musica, in its 40th year, is also celebrating the 1st Anniversary  collaboration and creation of UTEP’s Center for Arts Entrepreneurship, designed to prepare music and other creative arts students  for successful careers in the 21st century.

To honor the year filled with Master Classes, Community Engagement, Educational Outreach and unforgettable Concerts at UTEP’s Fox Fine Arts Recital Hall, Artistic Director Zuill Bailey has created another week of unforgettable music.

Concerts and an in-depth residency with UTEP Department of Music Strings Students and the UTEP Orchestra, will feature Bailey, last year’s Grammy Award Winner for “Tales of Hemingway,” Concert Master of the New York City Ballet, violinist Kurt Nikkanen and violist and Scott Rawls, the Chair of Instrumental Music and Associate Professor of Viola at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

The “Ultimate Trio,” will participate in a residency at UTEP’s Department of Music, visit schools in the region, the Neo-Natal Intensive Care Unit and the Oncology Infusion Center of the Hospitals of Providence and appear in a variety of Pop-Up, impromptu Concerts.

The first is a CD signing and Special Day at Cafe Central, on Tuesday, March 27, where a percentage of the proceeds will be dedicated to El Paso Pro-Musica Community Engagement programs. The Trio will perform and Zuill Bailey will sign his newly released CD, “Haydn Cello Concertos.” Proceeds will be dedicated all day, and the Trio appearance will begin at 6:00 p.m.

Another Impromptu performance will take place on Thursday, March 29 at 9:00 a.m. at H&H Car Wash, which was just named one of the Top Essential Restaurants in America in “Eater” Magazine.

“Not only can you get a Car Wash, a shoe shine, a great Breakfast, and Miner Fever from Maynard Haddad, but also a little classical music thrown in to start your day,” Bailey said.

The first performance  is set for Wednesday, March 28, a “Twilight Tour,” Concert at the Double Eagle in Old Mesilla at 6:00 p.m. . The Ultimate Trio performs in Concert on Thursday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m. at UTEP’s Fox Fine Arts Recital Hall. The Concert includes a String Trio by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart that was the only String Trio written by the genius composer. The passionate music of Erno Dohnanyi completes the performance.
