Vaccinations for Health Program hosts November Round of Clinics

The El Paso Fire Department is encouraging the community to take advantage of the popular Vaccinations for Health program, which is a successful part of the Medicaid Waiver Program.

Vaccinations for Health provides free influenza, blood pressure and glucose screenings to patients 18 and older, and pneumonia vaccines to those 65 and older.

There are 4 clinic dates in November and they are being held at the following locations and times:

Wednesday, Nov. 1: EPFD Safety, Health Outreach Center, 5415 Trowbridge Dr., 1 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Nov. 8: EPFD Safety, Health Outreach Center, 5415 Trowbridge Dr., 1 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Nov. 15: EPFD Safety, Health Outreach Center, 5415 Trowbridge Dr., 1 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.

No health clinic during Thanksgiving week

Wednesday, Nov. 29: EPFD Safety, Health Outreach Center, 5415 Trowbridge Dr., 1 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

Remember that the service is FREE to residents of El Paso and Hudspeth County who are 18 and over and DO NOT have medical insurance or are on Medicaid.

Health officials encourage residents who meet these guidelines to take advantage of the program. The goal of the program is to increase the wellness of the community.

Vaccinations for Health Program sets Check Up dates for April

The program “Vaccinations for Health” that teams up the El Paso Fire Department with the El Paso Health Department to provide free influenza, blood pressure and glucose screenings to patients 18 and older, colorectal screening kits to patients 50 and over and pneumonia vaccines to those 65 and older, will start again in April at the following locations and times:

Wednesday April 5: EPFD Safety, Health Outreach Center, 5415 Trowbridge Dr., 1-5:30 p.m.

Wednesday April 12: EPFD Safety, Health Outreach Center, 5415 Trowbridge Dr., 1-5:30 p.m.

Wednesday April 19: EPFD Safety, Health Outreach Center, 5415 Trowbridge Dr., 1-5:30 p.m.

Wednesday April 26: EPFD Safety, Health Outreach Center, 5415 Trowbridge Dr., 1-5:30 p.m.

Thursday Feb. 9: Health Dept. Health Fair, 9031 Viscount Blvd., 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

“There’s no question that firefighters are some of the most respected members of our community,” said Bruce Parsons, Assistant Health Director. “They assist those in need and have a rapport with those they serve. Those qualities, coupled with life-saving vaccines and screening tools will help us advance the health of Vaccinations for Health participants and the community.”

The final dates for 2016 for the El Paso Fire Department’s “Vaccinations for Health” outreach programs have been scheduled.

The program “Vaccinations for Health” that teams up the El Paso Fire Department with the El Paso Health Department to provide free influenza, blood pressure and glucose screenings to patients 18 and older, colorectal screening kits to patients 50 and over and pneumonia vaccines to those 65 and older, will start again in December at the following locations and times:

Wednesday Dec. 7: EPFD Safety, Health Outreach Center, 5415 Trowbridge Dr., 1-6 p.m.

Wednesday Dec. 14: EPFD Safety, Health Outreach Center, 5415 Trowbridge Dr., 1-6 p.m.

Wednesday Dec. 21: EPFD Safety, Health Outreach Center, 5415 Trowbridge Dr., 1-6 p.m.

EPFD sets October dates, times for ‘Vaccinations for Health’ program

The program “Vaccinations for Health” that teams up the El Paso Fire Department with the El Paso Health Department to provide free influenza and pneumonia vaccines, blood pressure and glucose screenings and colorectal screening kits for seniors will start again in October at the following dates and locations.

The new influenza vaccine for the new flu season will be available.

Thursday Oct. 8: EPFD Community Center, 5415 Trowbridge Dr., 1-4 p.m.

Saturday Oct. 10: Station 29, 11977 Pellicano Dr., 8-11 a.m.

Wednesday Oct. 14: Station 11, 314 Leon St., 1-4 p.m.

Thursday Oct. 22: EPFD Community Center, 5415 Trowbridge Dr., 1-4 p.m.

Saturday Oct. 24: Station 15, 115 Shorty Ln., 8-11 a.m.

Tuesday Oct. 27: Station 28, 10820 McCombs St., 1-4 p.m.

Remember that the service is FREE to residents 50 and over who do not have medical insurance or are on Medicaid. We are encouraging seniors who meet these guidelines to take advantage of the program. The goal of the program is to increase the wellness of our senior citizens in our community who do not have access to these services.

“From September 2014 to September 2015, we were able to see 1,133 seniors,” Deputy Chief Robert Arvizu said. “We want to continue the great success of last year into the coming calendar year.”
