Santa Teresa High’s Technology Student Association PTSD App in the running for national ‘Innovative App’

One local high school team is in the running for a national prize, after developing an App meant to help those with Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
The Santa Teresa High School’s Technology Student Association (TSA) submitted their concept “P.T.S.D Aid”, an app meant to alleviate PTSD symptoms, to the forth annual Verizon App Challenge.
The team’s submission included a series of four essays and  a three minute video on our app’s functions. Their concept placed first in New Mexico, beating 1,200 other entries. The prize for winning state was $5,000 for our TSA club, and new tablets for the team.
Santa Teresa is now competing nationally for the Fan Favorite award.  The Fan Favorite is determined by app that receives the most votes via text messages.  To vote for Santa Teresa’s team, supporters need to text the message, PTSDAID1 , to number 22333. (standard messaging rates apply.) The contest runs through January 30th.
Winning the fan favorite competition would mean that Santa Teresa’s TSA club receives an additional $15,000 and help from the MIT Media Lab to fabricate the app. In addition to the cash and help, the team will be able to go to the national TSA conference in Nashville to present the app.
