YouthBuild El Paso seeks Participants for New Program

Earlier this year, Workforce Solutions Borderplex was notified by the Department of Labor that it had been awarded $600,000 for the “YouthBuild El Paso” initiative.

With the recent surge in construction investment in our area, “YouthBuild El Paso” will help foster the future talent pipeline by assisting youth in obtaining their GED and training in construction and providing jobs at the end of the initiative.

YouthBuild is a community-based, alternative education program that trains and educates at-risk youth in workforce ready skills, ages 16-24. El Paso was one of 77 communities funded, and one of 24 newly created sites.

Interested participants  must be between the ages of 18 and 24 and live in one of the following areas:

Northeast El Paso, zip codes 79924 and 79934

Central El Paso, zip codes 79901 and 79905

East El Paso, zip codes 79936 and 79938

To join Workforce Solutions Borderplex “YouthBuild El Paso,” interested residents need to contact Yvonne Lopez, Program Specialist, at 915.887.2044 or register online.

Youth have until Monday, December 5, 2016 to register to be considered for enrollment into the program.

The U.S. Department of Labor awarded a total of $80.3 million in YouthBuild grants in September to organizations across 35 states.
