Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Paul L. Foster School of Medicine students are joining a statewide effort to teach participants how to perform hands-only CPR while breaking a Guinness World Record with “Texas Two Step: How to Save a Life.”
The event is a free, 20-minute, bilingual training session in hands-only CPR. Participants will learn how to act quickly by taking two steps: Step One – call 911; Step Two – begin hands-only CPR by pushing hard and fast on the center of the chest.
Those who participate in the free public event will practice on mannequins and be provided with educational materials summarizing the skills learned.
TTUHSC El Paso has collaborated with the Texas College of Emergency Physicians (TCEP), Texas Medical Association (TMA), American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP), HealthCorps, MaveRx, as well as El Paso organizations to host the event. More than 11,000 participants are expected throughout the state. Other cities participating include Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio.
