Texas Tech University HSC El Paso tops $1m in private grants

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso) has received $1,353,790 in private grants for FY 2014-15.

In an effort to connect with more foundations and corporations, last October the TTUHSC El Paso Office of Institutional Advancement tasked its newly formed Grants Development team to receive $1 million in non-federal funding. One year later, Jennifer Venegas, director for Grants Development and Susana Contreras, assistant director for Grants Development, have worked with university faculty and staff to surpass that goal.

“This collaboration with TTUHSC El Paso principal investigators sets the tone for future partnerships that will continue to expand research and programming on our campus and in our clinics,” said Venegas. “Ultimately, we’re trying to advance the mission of our institution and better the lives of the residents living in our community and along the border.”

Many of the grants received were with new funding agencies, meaning TTUHSC El Paso is connecting with more foundations and corporations who are invested in the mission of the institution and the research lead by its faculty and staff.

The Grants Development team plans to continue to cultivate this environment of grantsmanship among TTUHSC El Paso faculty and staff byhosting bi-monthly “Grants Round Ups” for all departments.
