TFCU donates nearly $40k to local high schools via Spirit Debit Card program

On Monday, officials with El Paso’s Teachers Federal Credit Union (TFCU) shared that their High School Spirit Debit Card Program has now donated nearly $40,000 to 38 local high schools in the nine school districts belonging to Region 19.

“As the pandemic continues to impact schools across the country, booster clubs, and other parent-teacher organizations who typically put on events and fundraisers to raise money have had to pause their efforts,” TFCU officials shared.

“The TFCU High School Spirit Debit Card is a great way for anyone in the community to actively give back and help raise funds for the school of their choice without having to directly pay out-of-pocket or make any changes to their budgets.”

The TFCU High School Spirit Debit Card allows account holders to customize their cards with the logo of their local high school. For every qualified purchase made on these cards, TFCU donates $0.05 to each account holder’s school of choice.

In addition, for the first 3 years, TFCU will match this donation for each school adding additional funds to support all local high schools. These donations will benefit high school programs, clubs, teams, and student organizations.

“This program continues to grow and there is no doubt that students will continue to reap the benefits once schools resume in person instruction,” officials added.
