TFCU offers ten scholarships to El Paso Students via two scholarship programs

As a show of support for local students, and to honor one of their organization’s strongest supporters of public education in El Paso, TFCU officials announced Tuesday will award a total of ten scholarships this year via two programs.

As part of their Charles Hart Memorial Scholarship – named in honor of their late Board Member, Mr. Charles Hart –  the credit union will one $2,000 scholarship.  Additionally, they will award nine $1000 scholarships via the TFCU Scholarship Program.

“We are saddened by the loss of one of our most trusted and esteemed directors, and we are truly honored to name this scholarship after him as it is a testament to the passion he had for education,” stated Max Villaronga, President/CEO of TFCU.

“We truly hope that these scholarships continue to provide the necessary aid to the students in our beloved community who think they may not be able to afford a  higher education,” said Alejandro Yu, VP of Marketing.

TFCU officials say Hart dedicated his life to education and served on the TFCU Board for over 25 years. Throughout his 41-year career, he received many awards and accolades to include Superintendent of the Year for Texas in 2001.

To qualify for this scholarship, the applicant must be a TFCU member and enroll in an accredited university or college as a full-time student. Applications are due June 1, 2021.

TFCU was founded in 1936 as a financial cooperative to provide educators and their families with quality financial products and services.
